It has a similar length but a different fatter taper you may be able to grind it down to fit.
I don't think it would be safe to put into a lathe It would spin crazy.
The M101A1 has a key that locks into the casing either high or low.

I often thought about narrowing mine but did not because it looks small behind my truck.
There is a good build on a M105 that the owner chopped it apart to build a smaller trailer.

Mount a 1 1/4" or 2" hitch channel under the tub and make a flag pole mast holder.
This is what I made for a offset umbrella. It worked well but I upgraded to a ez up.

I have done some upgrades since my last post such as painting the propane tank and a new 2.5 gallon Jerry can
due to the old one taking on water when it rained.
Five inches of snow covers the trailer...
