I assume the splitter requires locating the antenna wire under the hood? I wonder if any type of clip on is available or wireless extender? Any links would be appreciated :)

Porpoising update: Initially I had hoped that the new suspension of the 2014 Ram 2500 would suffice for this build. I was wrong. While there was no sway like that of my 2012 Ram 3500, I had a very annoying bobbing effect known as porpoising. Going over segmented road and dips would cause the...

No issues with it binding. Could be in part to the fact I always level up when camping. Also the flatbed being welded directly to the frame does not allow any give. "In this case, it looks like the truck and camper are intended to be permanently joined together." Key word here is looks :)...

Battery and Solar is covered in the thread. Whats not mentioned are the inverters. There is a 2500 watt dedicated to the 6000 btu AC. There is another 1000 watt for every thing else. During winter camping, I plan to see if the larger inverter will work for heat, thus sparing the propane.

Loved my Tiger. It was our very first RV. My family of 4 took it to the beach, mountains, and did the white rim trail in Moab. It really created some good family memories. The main reason for selling was a matter of practicality. Just seemed like a lot of money in one vehicle and not being...

Thanks, I like your bias. Would like to know more about your build. Your question on weight, I don't know:) When I was initially planning this, I wanted the camper to go on the new Eco-diesel Ram 1500. After further discussions with Rob, it was not going to work. At one point Rob...

Thank you adam88 for clarifying the price. Sofa was purchased here; http://shop4seats.com/rv-seating.html It does not have any power open or shut, except me:) Flatbed came from here; http://blueridgemfg.com/home.html I am very happy with this, it is actually much lighter than the stock bed.

I too like the XP. If I recall correctly, the flatbed itself cost around $10k. I had mine done for 4, which is aluminum. Also, I didn't pay near the $70k stated in the article. Just do a price out on their website, I think the prices are reasonable, especially with low finance rates and...

Thanks. The angle starts where the flat bed ends and extends out 2 feet and up 1 foot. Dimensions of the flatbed are 6.5' x 7'. I thought it would look odd to have this huge overhang coming straight out the back. As for storage, we have more than we need with all the exterior boxes. I think...

15 inches makes a big difference in weight and wind drag. When the top is up and slide out, the interior is very spacious for a truck camper. So far I've seen 17 mpg @ 70 mph fully loaded with an engine that's not broken in yet. Sorry to perplex. By the way, what is your cup of tea?

I did look at the XP and felt it was overpriced. As mentioned previously, Rob greatly underestimated my cost. He also did things above and beyond. I think this is where the 70K comes from. This having various "firsts" required more time than initially thought. As for superior build...

This having several "firsts" required more time and effort than initially thought. Rob greatly underestimated what it would cost to build this rig. However he stuck to his original quote even though it cost him. The best way to understand what the actual cost of this companies custom builds...

Most of the camper details are in the TCM article and here; http://www.phoenixpopup.com/meet-our-latest-custom-flatbed-model-camper/ One thing not mentioned is the Blue Sea charging relay- http://www.bluesea.com/products/7622/ML-ACR_Automatic_Charging_Relay_with_Manual_Control_-_12V_DC_500A...

A few people have asked that I do a build thread. Thank you TCM for doing it for me! :) The above article is fairly thorough, but if there are any detailed questions, comments, or "what were you thinking!", please feel free to post here or PM me.

A POP UP YOU'VE NEVER SEEN- The FERNWEH MOBIL

My rig is similar and also has/had slight porpoising. I removed the Timbrens and installed Helwig air bag suspension. BIG DIFFERENCE. Also put sumo's on the front with Fox shocks 2.0. Have rear shocks on order as some of the bobbing still exists. If that does not completely eliminate it...
