1/2 Ton vs 3/4 Ton for Family Adventures?

That blows my mind. I just took delivery of a F350 XLT 7.3 and its payload sticker is 4345. Its a 148 WB, with FX4 and the Camper Package, but save one leaf, they’re essentially the same build. Two thousand pounds difference. ? As for ride, my Silverado 1500 is way smoother. It’s designed for a...

1/2 Ton vs 3/4 Ton for Family Adventures?

This will help some. It doesn't account for heavier trim levels, but the bigger differences are in wheelbase, 2X vs 4X, and motor. https://www.fleet.ford.com/content/dam/aem_fleet/en_us/fleet/towing-guides/2022_Ford_RVandTrailerTowingGuide.pdf

One ton truck Suspension modifications for camper

I just assumed that the calculations Carli did for the TFL Truck build would be close enough for my situation. I ordered Pintops and the XHD leaf pack that Deaver makes for Carli. I opted out of the sway bar, choosing to stick with stock on their brackets. Carli recommended that for a full time...

1/2 Ton vs 3/4 Ton for Family Adventures?

I appreciate the hunt for the perfect vehicle, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it simply doesn’t exist. You have to accept that you can get 80-90% of the way there and then decide what you’re willing to give up, carrying capacity or fuel economy. For us, with a half-ton, a FWC Raven shell...

285/70R17 or similar "33 inch" pure winter tire

I think there’s more to it than just the tire. Tire profile, wheelbase, and vehicle weight are part of the equation too. My Element with studded Hakkas ruled all vehicles I‘ve ever owned in the snow. It’s rare to run different brands on the same vehicle. I’m sure if that car had worn Blizzaks or...

2020 Ford F250 on 37s - Expedition Truck Camper Build!

And possibly less reliable. I talked to Carli, and the shop that’ll be doing my suspension. He does both Carli and Icon. Both have e versions. No one seems enthused. As the shop guy said, “wires break and you’ll never turn the knobs. Stick with reliable.“ We went with Carli tuned Kings, a...

Seeking input on newer Ford F350's with the 6.2L or 7.3L Gas engines.

We have a FWC as you can see in the avatar. Our new build will be a Hallmark. I appreciate many things about our FWC, but Hallmark was able to check boxes FWC couldn’t. At almost 60, and not getting any younger, I much prefer the way the Hallmark roof lifts. You can stand on it when it’s open...

Why I Bought a Ford F250 Tremor for a Four Wheel Campers Hawk UTE

I guess it really depends on what one wants to do with the vehicle. For us, turning radius and wheelbase ruled over range. Even at 10MPG, that’s 340 miles.

285/70R17 or similar "33 inch" pure winter tire

I‘ve owned both. There’s no doubt that the studded version is better. The improvement is incremental though. Your tire to a Hakka will be night and day. Studded vs. non-studded Hakka is night and dusk. The studded version holds the speed record on ice, 206 mph. Were I to run dedicated winters...

Why I Bought a Ford F250 Tremor for a Four Wheel Campers Hawk UTE

Can you point me towards any evidence of what is supposed to come with what on a super duty? I greatly appreciate it. It’s all so confusing. There are all sorts of threads on ford-trucks that say it’s a clutch LSD. They say Raptor has the torsen.

That‘s a little over 10 MPG for sports fans following along at home. That’s not bad considering the size of your camper. ?

Why I Bought a Ford F250 Tremor for a Four Wheel Campers Hawk UTE

That‘s actually good to know. I understand that it’s a trac-lok anyway, not exactly the prized LSD. I was a little bummed and contemplating a OX. We’ll see how three wheeling goes.

Why I Bought a Ford F250 Tremor for a Four Wheel Campers Hawk UTE

I can't seem to figure out how to access my build sheet, but I'm almost certain my non-Tremor has a Dana LSD. @montypower has a very similar truck. He'd know for sure because he replaced his with an Ox locker.

285/70R17 or similar "33 inch" pure winter tire

No pure winter comes even close to Hakkas, none. I don’t run pure winters anymore, opting for the good enough Wildpeaks and Toyos, but the Hakkas eat snow. We were a ski racing family, and between my vehicles and the team bus, I think I bought 5 sets. I wouldn’t consider anything else for a...

Why I Bought a Ford F250 Tremor for a Four Wheel Campers Hawk UTE

$390 for the 4.30 upgrade Tremor comes with. Dana front and rear with front LSD and rear e-locker. I added it to my non-Tremor XLT.

Why I Bought a Ford F250 Tremor for a Four Wheel Campers Hawk UTE

All great points, and the reasons I ordered a factory winch in the first place. The biggest reason for wanting a full wrap, like an Expedition One for example, it driveability after an animal strike, especially if remote.

Why I Bought a Ford F250 Tremor for a Four Wheel Campers Hawk UTE

AFN does, but there’s no grill protection, so to a degree, it defeats the purpose.

Why I Bought a Ford F250 Tremor for a Four Wheel Campers Hawk UTE

Turns out I couldn’t cancel the winch. I may sell it. Levittown Ford Parts doesn’t stock it. They order them from Ford Performance and they don’t have them. Enjoy the new truck!

I missed this, but it’s essentially just how we special ordered ours. in addition, we ordered the Premium package, because we wanted heated seats and a few other bells and whistles, block heater, FX4, camper package, upfitter switches, carpet delete and the winch, which I may sell.

Seeking input on newer Ford F350's with the 6.2L or 7.3L Gas engines.

We ordered a F350 with 4.30 knowing we'd upsize to 35s and maybe someday to 37s. We're 60 and may someday switch to a hardside. That was another reason for a 350. It may just be stickers between the 250 and 350, especially if you're upgrading the suspension, but in some places, the stickers...
