I'm building a rig to carry a Hallmark K2 (now Guenella Overland) fulltime, with a deck and boxes. I don't have it yet, but I opted for the 7.3. Nothing will get great mileage carrying that weight all the time, so I elected more power. I don't like airbags and it will be on full time, so I'm...
Low step in and high ground clearance are pretty incompatible. I think scissors steps are probably the best answer, short of a super complex suspension system that lowers like Liquid Spring.
You could have a colab with a flatbed maker and put the steps where one of the lower boxes would be...
That’s a pretty generic ask. You’ll get more of what you want, if you say more about what you want. For example, the two listed above are both nice, both overland vehicles, and probably couldn‘t be more different than one and other. What‘s the “right build” in your mind.
I thought you meant once INSIDE.
Popups are a double pain. You have to step up, AND get through a smaller door. I’ll do it as long as I can though. It’s hard to have everything. It’s the best compromise as long as we can do it.
Exactly. It was Ford's answer. In order to fit the OEM bumper it has a narrower spool and fairlead. It's the only winch that will fit. If one has a n aftermarket, this one isn't worth the look. It's more expensive than it's equivalent Xeon 12S. If you want the clean look and no new bumper, this...
I ordered my F350 with a factory Warn winch. It's the only winch that will fit in a 2020-22 OEM bumper. It's invoiced from the factory, but dealer installed. I think I'm going to replace the bumper, but the factory couldn't reinvoice without the winch. New at the dealer they are $3K plus...
Ranch Hand is the only one I’ve seen that I‘d trust because it bolts to two positions. Unfortunately, one of them is occupied by the winch, so it isn’t compatible.
I’m also reading about impacting the airbags. I think I’ll leave it alone.
It turns out that they couldn't undo the order. Dooh! Now I either have to sell it or live with it.
Does anyone make a guard to protect the radiator, etc, that actually works and doesn't just look cool at the mall?
I ordered one at the beginning, but I bailed on the winch option. I want a stronger bumper. Plus, I'll be carrying a camper, so 12K probably isn't big enough.
Yes, a 148” WB was a priority. Tremor is only available in a Crew Cab 160” WB, and requires Lariat or higher. It’s a really cool truck, but I didn’t want the wheelbase to be appreciably bigger than our current rig. I could have still gone with Lariat, but going with XLT allowed me to save...
