Why I Bought a Ford F250 Tremor for a Four Wheel Campers Hawk UTE

I think that's a much more complicated get on a SD than people realize. From my understanding they are only available on Lariat and above with the Ultimate package with a crew cab, all of which I didn't want. Had I wanted all that, I'd have ponied up the extra $1k in a heartbeat.

    Liquid Spring Suspension

I think I'm going tried and true...2.5" Carli tuned Kings and a XHD Deaver pack. Liquid Spring has so much promise, but it's probably not ready for off road prime time yet.

Why I Bought a Ford F250 Tremor for a Four Wheel Campers Hawk UTE

I wish they offered the Tremor in a Super Cab. Alas, they don't. I wanted the shorter wheelbase, so I went with an XLT.

    Fine Details

I‘ve got the broad strokes figured out. We have a F350, Hallmark K2 and Bowen not so flatbed (TAV is calling it a dropbed) all on order. What I need help with are the fine details, things like lighting, on the truck and/or in the boxes for example, use of the upfitter switches, etc. To that...

    F350 Bumper and Winch

Ooh, that's a good one. $1K less than the Road Armor too. Thanks!

    F350 Bumper and Winch

That‘s a nice one. They make good stuff.

    Liquid Spring Suspension

I was told that by Karl, their national rep for overland sales. As you know though, there's different degrees of drivable, but it won't strand you.

    Liquid Spring Suspension

That’s the sort of stuff I want to know. Word is it will level too.

    Service/Utility Bodies

I'm not sure what the exact number is, but my bed will sit at the stock bed height, roughly 5" below the wheel top, similar to this picture.

    Liquid Spring Suspension

It can be driven if it's fully dead. It'll just be rough. It won't collapse to undriveable like that MB system did.

    Service/Utility Bodies

What you are describing is the Bowen "not so flatbed." It's standard bed height in the middle for good COG, but flatbed height laterally to allow for wheel clearance.

    Liquid Spring Suspension

Did you make any headway on this? They’re releasing a version for 1-ton trucks soon, and I’m very interested.

    Another "What to get" thread

I realize this was necromanced, but as long as it’s going, no one pointed out a very critical thing. Carrying a FlipPAC and a popup like a FWC are very different asks. I’d choose an agile truck like a taco for the former and a one ton for the latter.

    F350 Bumper and Winch

Thanks! I couldn't find it on their site. Do they make it for the 2022 SD? EDIT: AHH, found it, it's a Stealth with a Titan 2 guard. Nice lines!

    F350 Bumper and Winch

We're building a F350. I ordered it with a factory winch, but then realized that the factory bumper probably isn't protective enough. My salesperson was able to re-write the invoice and get the winch cancelled. Now I'm on the quest for a bumper and winch. I don't want a big, protrusion, but I...

    Service/Utility Bodies

I went deep down this rabbit hole. A slide in on a flatbed or service bed is the perfect combination with one big exception. They raise the height of the camper substantially. Sherptek recognized this issue and has a solution to mitigate it and run the camper at standard height. Brent Bowen...

winter tires when I live where it snows a lot but also plan to go to the desert?

The issue for us in Oregon is that we have to get through significant snow sometimes to get to the desert. I guess you could chain, but that's a pain, as is swapping wheels.

winter tires when I live where it snows a lot but also plan to go to the desert?

I have Wildpeaks on my current rig. We ski multiple times a week, but have had them in Death Valley too. They're not as good as dedicated, studded Hakka's, but but nothing is. They're pretty good in snow for a year 'round tire. On our new build I couldn't get them. I opted to Open Country A/T...

8 ft Pop Up Camper Options?

There are two very good options at 8 feet, FWC Grandby and Hallmark Guanella. You won’t come close to touching either new, but they both pop up used under $10K if you’re willing to get an old enough used one. Join their respective FB groups if you’re interested. You can go new for a little over...
