Artistic Shots- Well thought out, framed (positioned), artistic shots only please.

Agreed. Neither are right or wrong. Both are excellent. At that point, it's up to the artist to decide what he's after. I, personally, like the Velvia quality of the first one. The intense colors are great. All of these HDR shots are instense for my eyes...at least when looking at them...

Give you opinion on two burner stoves...

Depends on what you mean by high altitude ;) I haven't used my century at higher altitudes; however, I've used my Partner Steel at approx. 11,500 ft connected to a bulk container with no issues whatsoever.

Give you opinion on two burner stoves...

Lance, I have a century stove too. It's a nice stove. If yours came with the hose (instead of the metal pipe that some come with), you can get one of these adapters. If not, you can use their replacement hose.

    Squeaky clean not stinky Keens!

Washing machine for me too. It's awesome. They're like a brand new pair each time they come out of the machine.

Impending Legislation that could affect You (Oregon especially)

So, J, as a non-resident of Oregon (well both you and I really) I am presuming that you left that information out of your note on purpose. I'm asking, because I have always assumed (wrongly I suppose) that there was little I could do to influence the decision-making process on a bill in...

Impending Legislation that could affect You (Oregon especially)

I would also argue that this could be interpreted as a violation of our fourth amendment rights under the US constitution.

Artistic Shots- Well thought out, framed (positioned), artistic shots only please.

Vibrant and brilliant. I'm digging this shot. So, when taking 6 exposures, or more in some cases, and you're dealing with moving subjects such as water or clouds, do you take them very quickly so that the HDR doesn't show too much variance between the waves or clouds? Or, does this only work...

    tire and gearing question..

In the axle. Actually, you're replacing the ring and pinion gears inside the differential.

Where did you get your Photoshop CS4?

You can download from Adobe. Check out what their latest rules are for upgrading vs. paying full price. In the past you could even pay the upgrade price if you owned a valid copy of photoshop elements. I got a copy of elements with each of my scanners, and I used that product code to...

    Rule of thirds

Wil, These are great posts. The Wiki article that Scott posted is good and Colorado David's description is perfect. The point of all this is to compose an image such that the viewer's eyes are drawn into the photo and allowed to "walk around" in it. You don't want to anchor their eyes in the...

    tire and gearing question..

Roger, I have the gen III Montero, so it's different; however, I have the 285/75 BFG ATs. They're a tad too wide for this truck in the front. Not by much, but I had to trim just a slight bit to keep them from rubbing when fully stuffed and turned all the way. When I have to buy new tires...

Here we go again... which camera/lens combo? :-)

I normally shoot sunrise and sunset shots. I always work hard on getting the right exposure, as I have the luxury of doing so (on a tripod with plenty of time to adjust as the light changes). PM me your email address and I'll try to find some good examples of some low light images (full...

dual radio and one antenna setup

I don't think it would work, unless you plan on using your HAM radio on the 10m (?) band. The antenna has to match the operating frequency.

Here we go again... which camera/lens combo? :-)

Seriously, Brad, consider getting the D200 over the D90. That $600 price is excellent. If I weren't saving up for a D700, I'd go get another one as a second body for the bag.

Here we go again... which camera/lens combo? :-)

Wow, that's quite a deal. Brad, this is the camera that I use. I woudn't worry too much about age. It's quite fast, has a magnesium alloy body, weather sealing, and excellent image quality. Damn, I paid almost $2k for mine just a couple years ago. $600 is a steal.

How do you sport your SPOT?

I keep mine in my ditch bag. I figure that's the most likely scenario in which I'll need it. If not, I can always take it out of the bag to use it if I'm not leaving my vehicle behind.

Here we go again... which camera/lens combo? :-)

Brad, As you stated, the optics are more important. For low light and sporting events, I'm thinking that the 70-200 f/2.8 AF-S VR would be a good lens for you. It's expensive though, but would work great on a D90. I have used mine with my D70 with lots of success. Maybe you can find it...
