Budget build on an old Roadtrek

I'll let Zip confirm, but my understanding of the Roadtrek construction is that those skirts would be non-trivial to remove - there's a whole substructure there that includes a lot of storage and camper items that have been slung low under the chassis floor.

Budget build on an old Roadtrek

Subscribed! This should be cool. Agreed that the RT's generally are belly-dragging, so you gotta be a bit careful there, but the interior layouts are generally good for a couple of people. I looked at them for my family, but really on the "Versatile" would work for us since I'm not willing to...

    Alu Cabin!!

This says they'll fit 5.5' and 6.5' FS beds. Is there something about a chevy FS that makes this not work? EDIT: Ah, in the announcement video, it seems like Ram/Tundra coming first, then Ford, then GM products later.

New Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rooftop Camper Hits the Market

An interior layout like either Justin Pitcairn's "Goose Gear 60% delete + Ursa" or Dan Grec's Africa Ursa would easily work with the Hatchet's open rear area. Both Justin and Dan enter via the rear doors and close door/glass from the inside without much trouble, as far as I know. In fact...

How Do You Store Your Garbage?

Unless you're regularly in bear territory, it's hard to beat a Trasharoo/Oscars Mobile Hideout type outside trash bag. Even without a spare tire, there are ways to mount them outside a vehicle. Outside keeps the smell, etc. from being in the living space. They do collect dust though - you can...

awd express soft brakes after storage

Most likely, you've got contamination under a seal someplace. Lack of use, with parts out of their "normal" position, fluid will move to lowest points, etc. This may have let you push one of the pistons past where it would normally go with routine use, which can pick up debris from the bore...

    2021 Alu-Cab Khaya Camper 2 Sleeper / 2020 Ford Ranger Lariat

Hi Donsz - could you provide a measurement from the soft forward-wall to the rear wall? We'd need to sleep 3 and I'm trying to figure out if it would be possible to let my daughter sleep downstairs (assuming I fabbed something to make that bench seat a bit wider) Thanks!

He posted on IG earlier this week. I think he's only recently back from vacation, so surely catching up on emails, etc.

How do people wash their greasy pans?

Agreed. And for the cast iron, I have a dedicated VERY stiff natural bristle brush that can get off anything that doesn't come loose with a paper-towel and salt scrub.

Diesel heater in a four wheel camper?

I don't think this can be overstated. Most (but not all) of the people I've seen have trouble with diesel heaters (ignoring the issues with bum units fresh from the factory) are down to fouling in the combustion chamber that can be attributed to the units being run "lightly". Lots of...

New Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rooftop Camper Hits the Market

I agree that having standing room available while the bed is deployed is crucial. Even if you don't need to stand to put on pants, the idea that one must pop out a bed board, or have a partner shift over, so that someone else can get out of bed, is a major shortcoming of many of the other...

How much power do I need for 4-5 day trips?

I just pulled the figures directly from ARB's advertising, since I don't own an ARB fridge. I have hard data from controlled tests on my own gear, but not everybody owns the equipment to do controlled-environment testing and logging for themselves.

How much power do I need for 4-5 day trips?

That's kind of a max-spec claim. I'd say your jackery will run an ARB50 for up to 4 days. ARB advertises 0.87AH/h (20.88AH/day) * 4d = 83.52AH (when set to a certain temperature with a certain ambient temp range) The Jackery is advertised as 1002WH / 12v = 83.5AH So, if everything is perfect...

    Ford Tremor Fighter...2022 Silverado ZR2

I wish all the truck makers would stop with the front ends that are like 5' tall. Just about any modern fullsize in offroad trim (even factory "barely-a-lift" trim) is like chest-high or above on me. It's rediculous.

full size frame twist and implications to campers

I don't have direct experience, but a lot of people like Torklift Derringers for exactly this reason - springloaded tie-downs let the camper move independently a little bit from the bed when things start rocking and rolling.

    low/er budget camp stove review

If you don't want the extra hose, this is what I use that threads directly into the 1-lb bottle regulator on the GasONE hose:

    Cummins Canoe (A Stepvan Story)

Same Q, that makes me think there's some larger issue at play - more than just material failure of the pulley itself.

    low/er budget camp stove review

Yep, I have the 3900p (15k btu version) and I like it a lot. I use mine mostly on butane for convenience (I really like being able to whip out the stove, throw the lever, and get coffee going on a cold morning without fiddling with tank connections), but I always keep that adapter line in the...
