    Stackable Storage Totes

How big and how tough do you need? I use the Sterilite 1464 Totes. (25 3/4" L x 17 1/4" W x 11 7/8" H ) They're light weight, and stack/interlock fairly well because of how the lids and bottoms are molded. However, they are also light-duty and due to the tapered sides, these are only about...

Any problem running LR3 without cats?

Just about any gasoline OBD-II vehicle will throw fits to one degree or another if the cats are fouled or missing - downstream O2 sensor will cause it to complain, at least. Moreover, one of the ways modern ECUs make so much power is by getting the fuel mix just right - the primary (upstream)...

    Victron SCC for smart watches?

Based on my experience with the existing Victron app, this wouldn't be very useful anyhow. The major niggle being that they don't maintain a BT link in the app - if you switch out to another app or back up too far in the menu structure, you have to re-select which device you want to talk to and...

Total Composites Slide In Camper Kits

HBE is a soft-wall design, though. I think Whiskey and Victorian are talking about full hard-wall pop-ups, a la Alaskan and some of the euro-market ones.

ARB Refrigerator causing RFI on handhelds

You could try a choke on the power cable, but if the noise is radiating from the compressor motor itself, this won't help. Danfoss compressors are brushless, so noise filtering is more difficult than just adding a capacitor to the leads like one might do on a brushed DC motor.

Off the wall ham "history" question...

Another +1 for Dave's answer. Building reliably controllable tunable oscillators was sort of the ground work for any Year 1/2 EE student. In the old-old days, one could build a tunable oscillator but it only worked over a narrow band, so one might actually need to switch between different...

Portable diesel heater by Expedition Upfitter

Our side glass is the hinged at the top tilt-out variety, so we'd need to fill the whole wedge shape between the glass and body. (Or use the front window.)

Portable diesel heater by Expedition Upfitter

So no recirculation, correct? (We heat outside air and pump it via the hot-air ducting to the living space.) Something like this makes sense for those of us who only need heat seasonally or on extended travel. The hard part for me, of course, would be to create an interface to the living...

Best toilet for weekend adventures with the family?

No gagging smell when I dump my porta potty either. No splash or mess, either.

Best toilet for weekend adventures with the family?

Electric Flush is a plus. Not sure if general demand/preference drives the rest of the difference. Amazon shows a couple of different vendors who may be able to get the 976 to SoCal by the 3rd, so maybe you're not too much farther out.

Best toilet for weekend adventures with the family?

I had it narrowed down between the Dometic 976 and the Thetford Curve. The curve is, by far, the nicest of the portables, but it was taller than the cabinet I had available to put it in. (Technically, it was taller than the cabinet I was planning to build and I didn't want to give up the...

FCC's Enforcement Bureau Issues Citation to Rugged Radios for Equipment Marketing Violations

Wow, reading the citation, it's so much worse than it should have been. In addition to marketing radios programmed to parts of the spectrum they shouldn't have been, it looks like they also farked around quite a bit with their testing and certification process. They sold radios under...

Best toilet for weekend adventures with the family?

Coming from a similar position, I've had both a Thetford 135 (2.6g) and now a Dometic 976 (5.0gal). We found that the smaller tank capacity was not quite enough for 2-adults + 1-kid for more than a 2-day weekend. By the 3rd-4th day, we had to start making decisions about use, which sort of...

Starting from scratch: How to haul and camp w/ 4 dirt bikes and people?

If you want to have the option to tow with the jeep, I'd focus your search on tandem-axle trailers. They make them even in the shorter lengths (my uncle hauls his open-wheel race car and kit in one), but it is WAY simpler to balance the tongue load. Whether the Jeep has the beans to haul it...

Am I nuts for considering sticking with P-metric tire?

Stayed w/ P-metric. I'm going to keep running 'em until they let me down - I'm just not prepared to take the weight penalty until I know I need to. (Plus the wear warranty, overall price, etc. was hard to turn down.) Regarding wheels - the OEM aluminum wheels are sturdy enough for the...

FS: 2008 Tiger CX 4x4, Turbo Diesel Ford F350 Super Duty

Would it be possible to get a maximum length measurement? (Tip of front bumper to whichever is the most rearward extreme - the storage box or spare tire.) I recently had to pass on a Quad-cab base Tiger because it ended up being about 18-24" too long for the available space I have to park it...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

They're sold as self-inflating. They also include a small bellows. Infer from that what you will - but we used an Exped for a couple of years and I always needed to at least "top off" the self-inflation, even after waiting several hours. If you want to quickly go from "compressed" to...

$25K - 2013 Roadtrek - Hot Hot Hot one! Use this to build out your Cargo Van - Not related

That BIN price is insane. I know RT makes nice stuff, but you're basically talking about buying an interior cabinet and furniture set for $25k. I will also point out that even if one did buy this for parts and swap it over to another van, the new RV would still be a "homebuilt" and subject...
