    Need San Diego Installer ASAP

So if you're not familiar with San Diego, Aluminess is in an area of town (Santee, and nearby El Cajon) that has a TON of race shops, off-road shops, etc. (This area is far enough outside the main city that rents are lower, plus there used to be an actual dirt-track nearby, etc. etc. so it's...

Same. Also same, except I just use a super-siphon.

Chevy Express AWD Van Input, Please.

Holy thread necromancy, Batman! OP's last post was from 2016. You can see from that they passed on the Express platform. (Click on poster's name, then "Postings" to see their whole post history)

GM fullsize AWD Van Info thread

2nd on just buying new springs. Unless the used ones are known to be low miles and not abused with heavy loads, why take the chance for a small $$ savings?

COVID prices .. just me ?

The change in demand is real, though. In the last six weeks I've had people knock on my door twice to ask if the van in my driveway was for sale. I gave the answer I always give, which is "Yes", but the price reflects what it would cost me to replace it in the current market. They're always...

Sprinter Van - A great start

The ad cops to rear body damage. Given that it's a unibody, I'd want a very detailed report (or at least photos of the pre-repair situation) to give myself some peace of mind about the condition.

What do you all use and don't use?

Unless you have a particular affinity for gas absorption fridges, any modern AC/DC fridge would probably be a fantastic upgrade from an efficiency standpoint. I'm a "Solar all day" kinda guy - I don't want the noise or hassle of a generator.

GM fullsize AWD Van Info thread

I'm running P-metric tires on my Astro at the moment. I'm due to get new tires shortly, and I've been again asking myself whether I can safely stick with P-metric or if I should switch to LTs. I even started a whole thread on the subject...

    Will this shovel stay put???

Always good advice. That said, I will attest that I've had a pair of quickfists on the side of my van in harsh daily sun (driveway faces such that the QFs always face south) and they have stayed pliable and functional over the course of ~8 years thus far.

    Will this shovel stay put???

Good to worry about it, but yes, you'll be fine. EDIT: I should add: You did yourself a favor with the spacing. With the fists close to the spade and handle-ends, there isn't a lot of room for the shovel to slide along its axis. If your fists were closer together, that's the one bit of...

    Can we talk coffee brewing?

Understood, and it's a valid concern if you're going super-long-term. I keep a small stack of them in an old peppermint tin in my coffee kit. If I stuffed it full, it'd be enough filters for a couple of months of daily use. The aftermarket has also come up with reusable mesh filters, since...

    Jerry Can holder help

Yeah, I wonder if a few taps with a tinner's hammer (or a body hammer) could fix you up. Weaksauce. I'm in CA and all of my CARB-compliant cans are standard NATO dimensions. This is a manufacturing issue.

    Can we talk coffee brewing?

The initial purchase price includes so many filters that I've yet to buy replacements. That said, they're just regular filter paper, cut into 2.5" circles. In a pinch, or if you really didn't want to buy from Aeropress, you could cut your own from regular off-the-shelf filters. A #4 cone would...

    Jerry Can holder help

Too big in which dimension? That page shows measurements of a jerry can that has a bottom that is 13.77" x 6.69", which is larger than the standard NATO jerry can footprint of 13.5" x 6.5". (Meaning any NATO can, or one based on that pattern, should fit.)

Another vote for aeropress, specifically for the easy clean up. Press out the puck, wipe the plunger, done.

Adding larger/better padlock hasps to Pelican cases?

Just to revisit this, I was able to fab up a couple of stainless angle-tabs to get a slightly better locking solution. The key thing to get this to work was to rabbit (or rebate, for those across the pond) the outer flanges of the case a little bit to get the two hasp surfaces close enough...

Sewing Thread....A discussion on making your own adventure textile gear.

Agreed 110%. On my bag project from page 12, the only material I splurged on was #10 YKKs - I HATE small, fiddly zippers. Plus, the big stuff feels easier to field-service and repair.
