The waterport can be pressurized as it is filled or using an air pump like a bicycle pump. Waterport has a vid of it somewhere. I've been using my ARB OBA to pressurize the tank while out and about.
Currently, the car has 247k+ miles on it.
As far as future proofing it, it's not really a...
The Dobinsons will fully compress with a 1/2" margin with the stock bumpstops.
The Dobinson shocks where chosen to fit within my measurements when I cycled the rear suspension droop to bumps. Measurement results are posted in link below...
In theory, I would say yes, external snorkels could grab cleaner air...if you're not following someone kicking up dust.
I was able to keep "most" of the wheel liner so dust ingress is no worse than stock. When I pulled the fender panel to install the snorkel, there was hardly any dust past the...
Weather permitting, I'll put them as close to side-by-side. Don't really want to pull my TC UCAs out just for that.
I know for a fact that the Camburg UCAs are shaped better. No one that has Camburg have had to grind down their coil buckets to fit like owners of TC UCAs have had to do...
TECH: Total Chaos vs Camburg Upper Control Arm Hardware
I was able to score a used set of Camburg UCAs for my relative's Sequoia build. As I was getting them ready for install, I noticed some stark differences between the Camburg and Total Chaos hardware. Bear in mind that the both sets are...
IIRC, the OEM bolts are class 11. A similar sized grade 8 bolt will have a lower proof/tensile threshold. Couldn't say if that difference makes a difference.
Best the check the bracket for any signs of an enlarged hole. May need an oversized bolt to compensate, but you're limited to what the...
if the bolt diameter is smaller than what the spherical bearing accepts, good idea to inspect the bolt for any signs of fatigue.
For reference, the spherical bearings on my Kings are snug fit with minimal/no play. It slides right over the pin in my Sequoia.
It'll be fine. I'm not whoopping it up or anything.
If I do manage to damage the shock, it becomes an opportunity to add the flutter valves that I regret not adding. ?
This.
Without the limit straps, the Dobinson LC80 shocks could extend farther than there was available length of coil, thus allowing them to fall out. Hence the need for limit straps.
With the new King shocks, they are the right length to maximize articulation and still keep the coil in place.
MODIFICATION: King Rear Shocks with Adjustable Remote Reservoirs
GOAL:
Bring the rear suspension on par with the front.
PURPOSE:
The Dobinson's were a real improvement over the Bilsteins, no doubt. But they did not stand up to the work required of it when the Sequoia was loaded up with cans...
MODIFICATION: Rear Hatch Struts
GOAL:
Get the hatch to stay in the up position.
PURPOSE:
The added weight of the ladder and hatch MOLLE panel with gear results in a sagging hatch door.
At sea level in 65 deg F weather, the hatch could stay up...after you pushed it into full extension and held...
