"Battery Packs" are storage devices. "Battery Packs" aren't "Solar Generators". Refrigerators aren't "Food Generators".

I do not agree. Millivolts and milliamps are a very standard unit of measurement in the electrical and electronics industry. I would not compare it to counting money or wrench sizes. Stating it as a criminal motive is way far fetched. I would encourage you to please tread lightly as to making...

"Battery Packs" are storage devices. "Battery Packs" aren't "Solar Generators". Refrigerators aren't "Food Generators".

I'm of the opinion that it is going to be very difficult to make something DIY lightweight and compact as the Jackery Solar Generator for the price point they are being sold.

Why would you say that? 30,000 mAh is the same exact thing as 30 Ah. That is 100% honest and forthcoming. I'm pretty confident that the members on this platform are not deceived or tricked by marketing. The bottom line is the end user enjoying and using the product for what it is intended and...

    DIY Power Pack LiFePO4 WATTBOX

If those 4 wheel campers were not so hard to get I’d be all over it! Sounds like you have a nice simple rig that you and wife can enjoy.

    DIY Power Pack LiFePO4 WATTBOX

Join the crowd!! I'm as basic as it gets. I just started "modernizing" so I can have an electric cooler, portable air compressor, and a few other comforts to go along with my soft shell camping I'm gearing up for. One thing I will continue to use is my JetBoil for eating and a washcloth shower...

    DIY Power Pack LiFePO4 WATTBOX

I can understand that. OTOH being used as a charging device with a power brick it will almost cut in half the charge time to my solar generator vs using a 12V socket.

Tell me about shore power and converter chargers.

Just don't attempt to do what I did when I was a young and dumb. I had a KZ 750 I tried to run on a jump charger. It was popping and missing and I could not figure out why. My dad came out and said why don't I put the dead battery in and try. So battery went in and I was able to jump start it...

Oh well I tried at least. Kind of sad that Expedition Portal has gotten to the point of this kind of behavior. I have always thought of it as a place to educate, learn and discuss like minded topics. I imagine the lockdown is going to come soon.

Tell me about shore power and converter chargers.

I'm pretty sure it is only a charging device plugged into shore power for maintaining your battery. It is not meant as a 12 volt power supply.

    DIY Power Pack LiFePO4 WATTBOX

I plug my solar generator into into an inverter and inverter into the power port. It makes charging so much quicker.

Solar panels full time external mount?

Alternator drag is very negligible and I have seen no loss in MPG since switching to dual batteries and charging my solar generator while driving . Putting permanent mounted stuff on my truck is a no joy. I'm underpowered as it is and I enjoy the great 17-19 mpg my full size truck gets. I am...

12V plugs and sockets that are not cigarette lighter style

High there Dan. I'm a big fan of both SAE and Anderson plugs. They are both simple and reliable. I use the SAE pigtails on my motorcycles and the small Andersons on my truck. What's cool about the Andersons is you can configure the plugs 4 different ways so you have specific connections that...

Solar panels full time external mount?

I thought about doing something similar and mounting a panel on top of my truck cab. I decided to use my alternator as primary source of charging and when parked just set out the foldable. For me milage is a consideration. Roof racks and stuff mounted on top kill the fuel economy on most any rig.

Can you please give it a break? I have politely asked in this and other threads and you don't seem to listen. Your posts are not in the spirit of what this forum was intended for. What you are doing is considered trolling and is giving the moderators every reason to lock down this thread.

    Keep It Simple Solar

A simple solar charge controller and 50 amp panel is what keeps my batteries healthy when parked. Te beauty of the system is it's all automatic. just plug in the panel and forget it.

It depends on what you are building. An effective dual battery install that matches a Jackery 1000 or similar that puts out over 80 amp hours is going to cost more than $1000.00. By the time you are adding in all the wiring, alternator, connectors, relay, MPPT solar charge controller, solar...

    Tenere 700

If I did not have my Beta in the garage, the Tenere 700 would be setting next to my Super Tenere. You made a very smart purchasing decision for an all around motorcycle that is capable for most anything with the exception of hard core single track. Also the reliability factor and simplicity is a...

    Maximum Lift on IFS Vehicle?

FWIW, I do not ever recommend a body lift unless you are aware of the detrimental effects it has. One of the big ones is noise. No matter what kind of rubber or grease is used they all squeak over time and put stress on various chassis and steering components.

    Maximum Lift on IFS Vehicle?

As a few members have stated it all depends on what you are using it for. I am of the opinion that it is a complete waste of money to lift at rig just for the look. I blows me away at the money spent on outrageous suspension upgrades that don't see anything more than a graded dirt road. My...
