Fresh water tank drain hole not threaded!

This is the key question. If it's ABS, Valterra makes a set of standard fittings that are meant to be welded (chemically) into their ABS tanks. They have extra-wide flanges so theirs lots of surface area to mate to the tank. I used these on my first water tank and they worked really well. If...

    Stoves??

Right, that's exactly why I specifically called out extended cold weather camping as a separate consideration in the post you quoted. For extended cold, butane is maybe the worst choice. But, for a weekend getaway, where I can keep the fuel inside the semi-heated envelope (tent/camper) or warm...

Sewing Thread....A discussion on making your own adventure textile gear.

Wowza. Can you keep a build like that all in your head, or do you need an assembly checklist? (I needed a list for my much simpler rectangular bags.)

That's the upside of a "small" shop - relatively low population density.

Entry to and from cab to pop-up via sliding window?

You talking about climb-through for you, or a dog? I ask because most of the camper cab windows I've seen are pretty small. Not sure a full-grown adult would be able to get through one, even if you tried to "eel" through on your stomach. Pass-thru for stuff and ventilation? Sure. Dog...

Engel Power Cord 12v DC wiring. HELP!

You didn't list your model number, but each fridge has a service manual which shows the pin polarity for both the plug and socket. Here is the service manual for the MT-60, for example. (See page 4) Here is the full directory of Manuals on the Engel site.

    Stoves??

In my experience, I mostly don't need to re-pump once primed, but if you have a small head-space (full tank), one might need one round of top-up pumping after the stove is running. More than that indicates a problem. But as I said, in the early-morning hours, I'd much rather use butane. Snap...

    Stoves??

I hear you. I own 3 Coleman stoves and they're dead reliable, but pumping and priming just to get coffee going is for chumps. I switched to a butane single burner (the asian-market kind originally, then eventually switched to a "dual-fuel" model that also takes a 1lb propane bottle). In the...

    UCO Flatpack grill/firepit

It's more a problem that my grilling spot isn't always level. I always do my best before lighting up, but once the grill is hot, I ain't going to re-level it. If it's at an angle, the dogs keep trying to roll downhill, so I'm like Sisyphus with a set of tongs...

hopefully a non biased opinion Transit vs sprinter

If you have the vin, you may also be able to use an online decoder. I know this works for Sprinters and a few other models, at least. If it were a GM product, I'd say to check the door-jamb sticker for RPO codea, but I'm not a Ford owner, so I don't know where to tell you to look.

    UCO Flatpack grill/firepit

I've used a similar setup (a miniature knock-off of the Snow Peak pack-n-carry grill) on and off. Works great with lump charcoal for cooking, or with small fuel as a mini campfire. My biggest complaint with the design I have is that there's no lip around the grill surface so you have to be...

Camp Tables - What are you using?

My white linen table cloth will fix that right up! But seriously, every camp table needs a wipe-down before each meal anyhow.

Camp Tables - What are you using?

You joke, but if I were using PSP/Marston Mats, I'd already have built a frame to just drop them on as a table top. Every tool that does more than one job is doubly valuable.

What accessories requiring a 12v socket do you actually use?

Given how many USB adapters I've had to replace (because they either went bad or needed updating for various compatibility issues), I would never commit to hard-wiring USB sockets into my vehicle. For all the efforts by the mobile tech industry to create a "Universal" DC power system (USB...

Introducing the “NEW” Alu-Cab Canopy Camper

Thanks for the data point. Yes, it's hard to overstate what a luxury it is for everyone to be able to access the toilet at 2am without having to put shoes on, etc.

Camp Tables - What are you using?

That's a strong option. Walmart says it weighs just under 12lbs (not 4), but that's still lighter than my ~19lb Lifetime 2'x4' table. They also sell a square "card" table with the same fold-in-half resin style top that's 13lbs and 34" square (might seat 4 people better than the 20"x40").
