Personally I have seen more (US) domestic vehicles in Baja than imports. But I do not have any experience actually getting parts.
If you are in a big enough city, I am sure you could always have something shipped.
I am still learning a bunch with these older vans... mine is an 1988.
But the 460 tends to be a little thirsty, although I am averaging 10 mpg. I have heard they can go as low as 7 mpg. The power is good, but I have been told they don't like high rpms.

I thought that combination wasn't made any more... According to the guys at the local 4W store, which is probably questionable anyway.

Problem right now with the battery boxes is they hang lower than I would like, almost 3" below the frame rails. I will try and get some "mock" photos. They could go either side, but Ford puts them on the passenger. Which is also the side my main battery resides in the engine compartment...
Up next will be the aux battery system...
I got some of the factory frame mounted battery boxes online, the only issue they are designed for a new Ford Van. That and I am not too sure if I like how low they will hang down below the frame rail.
Otherwise I might just move the batteries somewhere...

Been on a couple of trips so far. So far, so good. We have been getting about 10 mpg! Which, oddly enough I am happy with. At least it isn't in the single digits...
