    Another Ram 3500 build...

How about using the front lsd that’s allegedly found in some rams? Seems like it might be a good option, if you could source one.

    Opinions on Suburban 2001 rig?

I think the 2500 Suburban is pretty much the same as the Silverado 2500. There's some quirks like the stepper motors going out leading to the gauges not working. But if you keep an eye on transmission temps and engine oil level it should be reliable. I wish I had the 8.1 in my 2011 2500 truck...

Ski Bum Truck V2.0, F450 Rough Road RV

Core strength is definetly my problem. Between my commute and work I sit 14+ hours a day.

I feel your pain. I had the same thing on Christmas eve, I could barely get out of bed for a week. It's still screwed up.

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

My '01 GT Mustang had 260hp and 300ft/lbs. It felt fast but the numbers seem kind of lame now, lol.

Which Toyota Bottle Jack Lifts Most/Highest?

I have a yellow bottle jack that has FORD stamped on it, I assume this is the superduty jack. I like it.

    My 1990 Chevy K1500

With the big trans cooler that just might be your temp. On my 6.0 2011 2500 that's about what my dash readout says in normal driving. The highest I've ever seen it was towing my 9,000lb travel trailer out west, at altitude, with a headwind. My temp maxed out at about 185f. That was at about 65f...

+1 If you separate at the lower ball joint and lower with a floor jack you don’t need the tool.

Questions about trailer solar systems and charging off the tow vehicle, and shore power

I had a golf cart at my last gig that I was tasked to take a look at because it went dead before the other golf carts. It took me way too long to figure out that it, like all the other golf carts were 48v but the owner had replaced the batteries in this one with 6v batteries instead of the...

If the OP tows at five or six thousand rpm's it's probably a great way to go. https://bangshift.com/general-news/videos/much-power-can-stage-1-2-truck-cam-brian-tooley-racing-add-ls-powered-ride/ https://www.texas-speed.com/p-4925-texas-speed-stage-2-high-lift-212218-600600-truck-camshaft.aspx

"Double down or fold" - Part 2 ...

I don’t personally think intake or exhaust mods do much of anything. Also the stock manifolds pretty much are shorty headers to start with if you look at what manifolds used to look like pre ls engines. I was looking at a cam swap and tune which would cost ~ $1000 if I did the work myself. The...

"Double down or fold" - Part 2 ...

I’ve looked at upgrading my 6.0 but it seems like even if you spend a couple grand you only gain 20-40hp. If you are gonna spend that kinda money I’d think a gear swap would be better. 4.10’s at least, maybe 4.56 since it’s basically a dedicated tow rig.

"Double down or fold" - Part 2 ...

I really would have thought a suburban would do better than that. My chevy 6.0 doesn't make much more power than your 5.3 and it did that pass at 45mph with a combined truck/trailer weight of 18,000lbs. Maybe you're loaded up heavier than you think? EDIT: Do you tow in third or fourth gear...

"Double down or fold" - Part 2 ...

The first transmission failure isn't really surprising. I had the same trans in a '02 chevy blazer, I never had any problems with it. When I installed a temp gauge I was seeing 220+ degrees in stop and go traffic empty, not towing. The factory in-radiator trans cooler was probably clogged from...

"Double down or fold" - Part 2 ...

My 3/4 ton gets 14mpg, which sucks, but it would tow your 3500lb trailer pretty easy. I towed a 9,000lb travel trailer over the passes in CO and my trans temp never went over 180f.

Interesting midsize truck comparison / test

I'm surprised the chevy won, not sure which I like better. I had a Subaru on blizzacks and my 2500 chevy on blizzacks. The Subaru was better at driving fast, because of course it just plain handled better than a pickup. It's relatively low torque and good grip meant you didn't even need to...

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

You'll have to take the diff cover off and disconnect the c clips to pull the axles and you may as well do both sides after going through that much work. Curious about the wiring as well. On my 30' travel trailer they only run a positive 6awg wire 25' back to the power center. The negative...
