The pump is a 400C. I've been using a 400P for several years with good luck, so I was pretty sure this was a decent choice. Already have the pressure relief valve. Trying to decide how to do the pressure gauge - I'm not sure I want to deal with routing an airline to the cabin, so I may either...
I no longer have OEM seats to measure from, but here's an excellent resource with a fairly comprehensive set of measurements for the van. You can calculate the distance you're looking from since he's got distances from back door to 3rd row and back door to front seats.
There is a dearth of rock-n-roll style beds available in North America. Cheapest option is to find a conversion-van bench from Craigslist or a Junkyard. My first bench/bed was $100, but wasn't 100% flat, which got old after a couple of years. I looked at the available choices, and there are...
I'm a bottle jack guy. The stock scissor jack didn't have enough throw to get my taller tires up high enough to change, and I don't have a good spot to lift with a Hi-Lift. My solution to the above problem is the Bogert Safe Jack system with the extensions and modular Jack-Stand kit. In the...
I think this topic was destined to end up as "use X,Y,Z products instead" simply because the topic, as stated, is generally contraindicated for being dangerous to the user.
Hey all, I'm in the midst of putting an on-board air setup under my van, but that means I need to settle on the final details. In this case, my one open question is what hose to use for all the plumbing/interconnect. I'll be using a Viair 400c which has an 18" braided leader hose, but my tank...
On Board Air, Part 1
So we spend a lot of our time in the van out in the desert. A lot of those trails have pretty badly washboarded roads, and I know that the best way to smooth those over is to air-down my tires. Yet sometimes, I don't. I just grit my teeth and listen to everything rattle...
Yep, anything with an exposed burner that's going to be an issue. I use one of those $5 accordion-fold aluminum windscreens from my local asian market. Glued a couple of rare-earth magnets to the bottom so it "snaps" the the body of my burner.
Like this:
Nifty bit of kit, but not really the same animal at all, since the flat griddle with a drain hole will not cook the same kinds of wet-foods that the dish of a skottle will.
But this isn't the thread to debate the merits of the Skottle or competitors. To the OP: TemboTusk announced in IG this...
Looks cool, especially for the desert crowd. I think I might have been able to sell the Mrs. on something like that if I'd tried before we got a van, but I'm betting these days she'll want more insulation, not less! ;-)
Why series?
Going in series to raise the solar voltage can be good if you have a very long transmit length between the panels and the solar controller, but generally I'd think you would want more current. If you have even the slightest amount of shading on even one part of one panel, a series...
What is it about the 813108A you don't like? Looking at the press releases, it looks like the double-functionality of the mesh with zip-down walls is an improvement. I had to choose between the all-mesh bug room and the wall-tent (I chose mesh), but having a single part with both...
Legal is tough, since technically anything non-OEM isn't strictly legal. That said, illegal is also kind of a non-category, since I've never heard of anyone getting into trouble for a seat. Hell, the VW people build their Rock-n-Roll beds out of wood.
Safe? If you're super-worried about it...
The FWD for the Promaster takes it off my list.
We were camped at Kirk Creek last summer and I watched for like 20 minutes as a guy with a Promaster-based Itasca RV tried, and failed, to pull his rig up onto a pair of those stacked lego-style leveling blocks. The campsite spaces were "mostly...
Normally I'd say AutoAnything.com since they usually have a 20% off coupon, but it seems they don't have the 2500x2500 room right now. Several other vendors have 'em for ~$155-$160, though.
