Is this the all-new 2015 Defender?

Additionally, that tired concept was based on the Escape chassis. I'm sure a new Defender could use a bit more "off road prowess" than that.

Is this the all-new 2015 Defender?

Those tired Ford Bronco concept vehicles first started being shopped around the Car Show circuit in 2004 and Ford sold Land Rover years ago. Yawn.

First-Aid situations you've encountered in the backcountry

Dehydration. Hypothermia. A broken arm (compound). A GSW. A degloved finger. Two dead bodies. (Believed to have succumbed to dehydration) My backwoods trauma bag will cover most anything we encounter. Sorry, if you need stuck, IV, anaphylaxis, etc., you're on your own as I no longer carry any...

    Mojave Trail Cleanup

That was awesome! The trash area is around what we call the "big tree", between the dunes to Soda Dry Lake. The area where the dirt bike AC's hang out and leave their beer cans and junk behind. They are the people who are going to get areas closed to the rest of us.

Why all the hi-lift hate? Is there an alternative?

I've come to the conclusion that the vast majority of those bemoaning the dangers of the Hi-Lift jack never had a car or truck with a bumper jack. Can a Hi-Lift be dangerous? Sure, anything mis-used can be dangerous but a Hi-Lift is no more dangerous than a bottle jack. Seriously? I've seen...

Why all the hi-lift hate? Is there an alternative?

Seriously! I think ever car I ever got with a bumper jack, I'm pretty sure that they all came rusted from the factory, and those were all stored in the trunk!!

Why all the hi-lift hate? Is there an alternative?

You live in a high moisture area where they use road salt on the roads in the winter and your surprised by surface corrosion? Frankly, your expectations are a bit divorced from reality. I spent several years of my early life, embarked aboard ships. We had to constantly take preventative...

Maxtrax vs TRED vs Tracmats vs X-Trax vs X-Jack

I just got a pair of the Maxsas. They popped up on my wife's Amazon "what about these?" Notice. Seem nice enough. The proof will be in the performance so for now they'll go in the recovery kit. Still trying to figure out how I want to mount them in our JKUS.

    Spare tire as an underneath-bumper?

There are two problems with this idea. First is the floating, hanging suspension mount for an underside spare. It is not rigid, it is flexible. When you combine that with the second problem, the high amount of friction. A tire is rubber. It does not slide across anything with any degree of...

    Ohio hidden compartment law

"I'm not going to get into it, but I also want to touch on what a slippery slope this law is as to what the "intention" of the vehicle's owner/operator is." There is no "slippery slope". The intended use (that word "intent" again") is easily proven. Most hidden compartments are found through...

    Ohio hidden compartment law

Sure, the OSP just fell out of the sky and landed on Mr. Gurley's car, purely by random happenstance, and he was doing nothing at all that brought him to the attention of LE, because that happens all the time. Mr. Gurley should abide by the adage, "don't start nothin, won't be nothin", hence...

    My Defender 110 crew-cab

I've always loved the doublecab 110, pure unobtainium here for the most part but it is nice to see someone make such good use of one. I still hate you.

    Deep snow without skid plate?

I have seen blocks of ice do as much damage to a truck as any similar sized rock. I'd get that skid back on. It's cheap insurance.

    Triple Aught Design?

TAD Gear is great, and well worth the price. Wait though, till you start getting custom gear from Beyond Tactical (or the civilian side, Beyond Fleece). Nothing like bespoke for upping the cost quotient.

2000 Ford Excursion as expedition vehicle

Have another beer and ponder this Excursion. I can't remember where I found this picture but I always liked the setup, although not necessarily the additional doors.
