Yeah I loved my Tonka Trucks. My favorite was my dump truck. I was a kid when they were mostly metal too so they lasted pretty good. I also had a few from the late 40's and 50's that were my dads when he was a kid. Had them out in the shop on the property I grew up on which was vacant at the...
Yep that was quick. I have a fair passel, herd, flock, school, whatever you want to call it, of them. I just can't call them what my wife does, it would probably get me banned from this website and possibly the internet.:)
Took my rear Dana 70 out of my gas rig to regear it and put it in my diesel rig. And yes it came stock under my Jeep. Guess what Jeep it is? Front is stock too and its a Dana 60.
Its the 4.3 Vortec motors that have the plastic intake manifold gaskets that go bad and start leaking coolant. They like to crack and then start leaking. I am doing front upper A-arm bushings and drivers idler arm on my moms husbands Astro here pretty soon. The bushings are dry rotted pretty...
Hopefully they just didn't buy the name, it would be nice if RE continues operation. I have seen sometimes where a big corporation buys a small company and its a good thing. I have also seen where they buy it just for a name brand, this happens a lot more than the other option.
Good thing...
You just need more practice. I said the same thing the first couple times I had an Astro come in the door, now I love seeing one come to my shop. Once you have done that stuff a few times its pretty quick. I actually think changing plugs on a Astro is quicker and easier than a S-10, remove...
For a small van they actually aren't to bad to work on. The Chevy 4.3 is a pretty good engine. If the intake manifold gaskets haven't been done yet they are probably due. Distributor caps like to corrode in damp weather/short trips and can cause no starts or rough running engines. Get a good...
Its tough buying a used car long distance. Got anyone up there you know could go take a look at it for you or take it to a shop for a prepurchase inspection?
That is cool. Just think an entire family probably used to go camping in that thing for a few days at a time. Something to be said for the old days of not having a whole lot of gadgets.
Just put a big, beefy, steel bumper on the back and don't worry about the guy behind you.
Unless its been a beach runner you shouldn't have too worry too much about rust. I know sometimes they like to rust below the big quarter windows.
If you plan on running those size tires loaded...
Performance and 6.2. Ahh I needed a good laugh.
They aren't rocket ships and if you are used to the newer diesels and expect the same from a 6.2 you will be very disappointed. But if you realize what it is and plan your merges a little they aren't bad. Loaded down and towing they get pretty...
I am finding it hard to get excited anymore about Jeep, Wrangler, U.S. market and diesel all being used in the same sentence. Maybe if Jeep ever actually offered it here I might get excited but Jeep has teased me to many times now to even get me interested. A four door Wrangler Rubicon with a...
Are you sure the wheel lug pattern is 5x5.25 and not 5x5.5? From what I can see in the picture it looks like a trailer to be towed behind a military jeep. Jeep used 5x5.5 on all their stuff for decades, so did half ton Fords, Internationasl, Dodges, and a few others.
I think I have actually seen that one and if I remember its very rusty. A lot of older iron here on the coast rusts out pretty bad. If anyone is really interested I can take a look at it.
Dang Todd, for a minute there I thought I died and gone to heaven. Very nice view from your house, better than watching Stacy David/Trucks on a big screen.
