Well, I didn't notice it too much, except the really, really steep hill climb to get to the chisos basin. I had to drop all the way down to 1st and 2nd gears.
Also, dropped from about 16 mpg's to about 11 mpg's  . That's a lot of dough to spend on gas for getting to and from such a...
Welcome to Expedition Portal. Glad to see another Texan join up.
Let me know if you have any questions about BBNP.
Good luck on your adventures throughout Central TX.
Cheers,
TD
Only saw 2 bluebonnets the whole time we were there. Not enough rainfall. Maybe a couple weeks later might help your chances.
Items to see:
Balanced Rock
Santa Elena Canyon
Boquillas Canyon
East side of Chisos Mountains (Juniper Canyon, Pine Canyon, Glenn Springs Roads are all good places)...
Beretta A391 XTREMA2 SYNTHETIC
But, the shortest barrel you can get is 26"
May I ask what the purpose of the gun will be? Waterfowl hunting? Other types of hunting (you mentioned slugs), or home defense (trying to figure out the desire to have such a short barrel).
Good luck in your search.
Mike, I really wish I could help you.
I've been in the same boat too for a while now. I have an F5 with the 20mm f/2.8 and really miss that combo. I still have it, but I like shooting digital.
The Nikon 12-24 will cost you a lot of coin and will leave you wanting more. It's not a great build...

1st day: Nugent Mountain. Easy...

Sometimes it's the little things that make you happy
So, last night I was working 'til 1am getting stuff ready for the BBNP trip tomorrow.
I installed a 12" hitch extender so that I can open the rear door to my truck.
I got 3 of the silent hitch pins from Mario. As soon as I noticed that...
Are you kidding? Sure it's far, but it's not like I'm never coming to Utah, due to the distance. It's worth it, and it'd be great to have you on the trip. You don't even have to call in sick, just call in disinterested.:p
Regarding the pics, I posted a few in the driveway. I'll follow-up...
