    Land Rover Ideas for Grenadiers

The Defender NEEDS a cage, it's roof/body structure is only slightly stronger than an empty soda can. I suspect the Grenadier's roof structure offers more than adequate protection, particularly for a low speed rollover. Not sure that the interior 'mess' is worth it here, but to each their own...

    Land Rover Ideas for Grenadiers

So apparently Safety Devices is making an NAS style external cage for the Grenadier?

    eye opener about gvwr

Pretty sure it has to do with all of those. That is not to say that it isn't artificially lowered to fit other parameters, but pretty sure there is significant engineering that goes into calculating the GVWR of a vehicle.. That being said, I'm sure there is significant safety margins built in...

    Electric Chain Saw

    $250 for a bag!?!?

    Electric Chain Saw

I still prefer a gas chainsaw. My use is mixed case I guess, trimming and sometimes felling small trees (up to maybe 15-16" diameter, 30-50 feet tall), cutting firewood, and use on the trail. I picked up a used Husqvarna 445 for $100 with a hard case, chain sharpening tools, a gallon of bar...

    eye opener about gvwr

Poor Load capacity is an ever ongoing discussion in the Overland world. There are plenty of articles here if you look. Jeep finally made an effort an increased the load capacity of the more recent JL Unlimited, but still far below what some classic overland platforms like the Defender provide...

    The 255/85R16 Tire Official List

I think 16" tire size options have been dwindling in general. Far more options in the 17" class these days, like the very cool 285/75-17 offered by Mickey Thompson, unfortunately it is only in their AT, but love the Tall (34.6") narrow size..

    110, how bad really?

$50K less? Hmmm, not sure what the quality of the 110 you can get AND engine swap it for $30-$40K, even if you are doing all the work. Not to mention how long till that project is completed. And that is assuming the cost of a NEW Grenadier, second hand examples can be had for a price point...

    1922 Toyota Landcruiser FJ80

Just figured it was one of those Toyota Special Editions.. Locked? Inquiring Minds are going to want to know..

A few Grenadiers at The Big Thing

At that price, it's only point seems to be to try to poach some Gwagen 4x4 Squared customers, in the world of look at me. Not many are going to do any serious offroading. Seems like price gouging otherwise, I mean good set of engineered portals I can see being a $20K (maybe $30K) option, but...

    Outfitting my Grenadier Trialmaster

I think you may need some more storage bags..

    Bronco - Jeep - 4Runner ???

Grenadier.. I know that is pushing the budget, but there are a number in that price range that can be had 'used' with minimal miles though..

    110, how bad really?

Have you heard of the Grenadier? Much of the charm of a Defender, easily optioned triple locked, high capacity (dual batteries) electrical system, heavier duty driveline components, high load capacity, cabin that seals well, much safer than an Old Defender could hope to be, all with a warranty...

    Soft shackles?

As long as the tether is connected to a different (secure) part of the vehicle (assuming this is common sense), and of sufficient strength (usually a winch extension cable or similar), it should still arrest the flight of a departed shackle or tow hook. Of course, like anything else, there...

    Soft shackles?

Can use tether lines on shackles if you are concerned. It is another piece of equipment to carry, and another step to take, but if you want to be safe..

Update on the new Mini FJ…coming to the USA soon?

I don't see the prices of any of these being realistic, honestly, it's just ridiculous where new car prices have gone. I thought the Grenadier was bad, but when looked at in this context, not so much I guess..

Fuel tank in place of my spare tire???

Interesting, that article states you can stack 3 of the 6 gallon tanks, for 18 gallons total.. "Another cool feature? These bad boys are stackable! The super sleek design allows you to carry up to 3 of them in the spare location, which gives you an additional 18 gallons of water and/or gas...

Fuel tank in place of my spare tire???

Possibly, thought an email to the company can probably get you specs on the material and a determination if it can 'stand up' to storing gasoline and/or diesel fuel. I suspect there is a good chance it can, and it is more legal/safety/epa issues preventing it being advertised for fuel storage...

05 sequoia limited aka “turd crappley”

I'm always keeping an eye out for a 1st gen Sequoia. Love following the build. That spare tire carrier is by far the best looking solution I've seen for the sequoia. Not sure if it is feasible without the body lift or not, but definitely very clean, WELL DONE! Let me know when you get tired...

    DeMontbrun's 2005 Sequoia Limited 4WD Build

Funny, momma mobile was the reaction my wife had when I talked about getting one. I don't really agree that they are ugly as sin. Stock, they are a little plain jane, particularly when compared to the more attention getting designs of current gen Toyota trucks. But honestly, when lifted and...
