The straps are just looped around the tailgate- I think that's a pretty common setup when you don't have a spare on the back. I love that thing- perfect beer can receptacle and I pull it of to hit the river for the rest of our trash on multi day trips.

    3.4 TRD Supercharger users?

My truck's an '89 that came with a 3.0 which blew up and I swapped a 3.4 into it a few years ago. So, not a hot rod but it's leaps and bounds better than how it came. Fair enough! I feel like I remember even the first gens going for more like $2200 but obviously that's not the norm. I'm in...

    3.4 TRD Supercharger users?

He's asking $1600 and I think there's a little wiggle room- it's a first gen with 20k on it supposedly. I'm on the fence, if anyone on here is really interested I can get you the contact info.

    3.4 TRD Supercharger users?

Thanks for the input guys! Starting to sound like the "cheap s/c setup" starts to stray from the "cheap" part in a hurry when you start shopping for the 7th injector setups to compliment it...

Hell yeah- much love for the e30! I've had a handful. This one is mostly rallyx and winter beater duty but still goes mountain biking and camping fairly regularly. It's too bad they're falling prey to the same pricing/demand shenanigans as the older Toyota trucks. Years ago you could find...

    3.4 TRD Supercharger users?

Yeah I was always kind of surprised that you could run boost through one of these with zero management or fuel upgrades. I do live at 8000 feet which would negate some of the lean fueling issues (at least driving around here), but I would prefer to run it on the safe side. So would you guys...

    3.4 TRD Supercharger users?

Anyone on here running the TRD blower on their 3.4? A raging deal just popped up on one locally and I'm casually considering it. I don't really need the extra power, but.... Any downsides? I don't really care about running 91. Wouldn't be interested in a smaller pulley, 7th injector, any...

    El Burro - 1989 4Runner Build

Yeah, 4.88s are just about perfect. I did them when I still had the 3.0 and they pretty much necessary at that point. With the 3.4 you could probably get away with 4.10s and not feel horribly gutless but not ideal. I stumbled into my 4.88s for a raging deal years ago and just couldn't pass it...

That one actually seems reasonably priced- although I probably wouldn't have thought so 5 years ago. Anything not horribly beat on with under 200k is liable to pull 6k+ it seems. The 4runner I referenced earlier had like 280k miles on it and sold in 3 or 4 hours after listing. Crazy.

Man no kidding. It's stupid what these trucks are starting to be worth these days. I got my current one for free, and my previous '94 4runner was $1400. I sold that runner for $3k a bunch of years ago and was kind of shocked. I get weird offers for my white truck all the time. If it...

    El Burro - 1989 4Runner Build

Get that OBD port hooked up pronto so you can keep an eye on the temps. I remember having a bit a of a fiasco getting my 3.4 bled properly for a while after my swap- I can't remember exactly what hoops I had to jump through but if finally worked itself out. Man I miss my '87- I would sure...

I love those things! A couple friends still have hardbody pickups that are going and going and going. I always felt like those Nissans were the lower cost equivalent of the typical Toyota pickup/4runner options.

    1986 towing

I went through this same process with my truck a few years ago as it lacked a receiver and the bumper was this horrible cobbled together thing- it had a receiver built in but I hardly trusted it with anything significant. I finally gave up on buying a legitimate reciever (i.e. one that isn't...

    1986 towing

No problem, I tow my fully loaded raft trailer with my '89 pickup on a semi daily basis in the summer. I had a 14' camper for a brief moment also that towed fairly well, but was definitely on the upper end of what felt comfortable. It was probably 3000 lbs or so, but maybe more- I don't...

New GX owner, replacement key suggestions?

Awesome, do let me know how that turns out! Seems sort of hit and miss for the GX people going through that programming procedure, but sure worth a try. Either way, if it doesn't work at least at that point I would have a new cut key with electronic hardware that the dealer can then...

New GX owner, replacement key suggestions?

Just picked up an '03 GX to replace my wife's aging BMW X5 and would like to sort out a couple things before we pick it up this weekend. The owner only has a single master key, and I am hyper paranoid about having spares stashed all over. Have any of you guys had to deal with coming up with...

    Old's Cool

Thought so! A bunch of my family are old school Jackson Hole people so that zone is my old stomping ground. We lived in Driggs for a couple years until it was time for a slightly milder winter and the sunny CO days that I'm so accustomed too. I still have a soft spot for SE Idaho though, I...
