One other tip, just discussing riv-nuts this weekend with user Arclight: Sometimes after the swaging the nut won't be perfectly straight (like it compressed more on one side than the other), this can yield a situation where things cross-thread a little bit. It never hurts to chase these nuts...

Very cool. I bet the amount of storage volume you lost with the caster and support bar above it was offset by the volume you gained by being able to make the drawers full width instead of having to leave room for slides down the sides. Depending on length, you might have actually gained volume.

It's all about volume and economy of scale. The smaller tanks don't circulate as much. The 20# tanks are ubiquitous. Also, shop around. Ace Hardware has the 5# tanks (8" diameter) for $54.99

Sadly, I came to say the same thing. Unless your preferred configuration was not actually available or is exceedingly rare (like a manual transmission in an Astro van), it's nearly ALWAYS cheaper and easier from a service/maintenance perspective to swap the truck instead.
