Making major progress. Need to document....
Found an early engine R2.8 through Uncle Douglas and his contacts. Cummins is backed up right now so I got lucky.
Got the 300tdi from a truck from Brazil that Scully had. I think a cooling channel plugged up causing the overheat. It's gone to be...
My buddy was desert camping and they hit some low temps into the teens! His friends came with trailers (turtlebacks) and they both froze lines causing leaks and issues. Be sure you drain your tanks and lines before hitting really cold weather! Stay warm!
Sorry, but you are totally wrong. 1996-1999 have 2 wheel rear traction control and 2000-2002 models have 4 wheel traction control that is very effective. I have taken my P38 on some serious trails including the Rubicon and it was very good keeping up with other rovers than had locking rear...
Check out Overland Pros new Wraptor 3K 180 degree awning. It is a grey color but no black underneath. It provides great coverage without being a cave. The awning is waterproof canvas while the walls connect with velcro and are a lighter weight poly material. Velcro is much easier to attach than...
I have the Anza 2000 and it is an awesome tent. The mattress is 3 inches which is taller than others and it is much easier to setup. The spring rods are a pain in the butt and I would spend more time putting up spring rods than opening my old tent. Its bigger than a king size bed and we slept 5...
There is a lot of stress on the brackets for a 270 degree awning. It may not be rigid enough or able to withstand the stress. Solid mounts are a better option.
I sent a message last year and need to follow-up. I unfortunately broke my mine while cleaning it. I have purchased 3 other stones on amazon trying to find one that will work. I need to put some more effort into finding a correct fit. Its tough, the SP one is smaller size and thin with a ridge...
I know of a well sorted D2 on 37s in Northern California so no rust. Reasonable price too. DM me with ur number and I will forward it to him. He's in NorCal Rover Club.
Time to yank the 300tdi. Got it out in a few hours. My buddy Travis helped me with lifting it out. We are now renting space next to Scully Offroad who drops LS conversions in the old Defenders
Dropped oil pan, then took of head and front cover. Still couldn't turn over engine. Dropped bearing caps and it turned. Noticed cylinder #3 looked dry and it threw a bearing. Engine toast...either lack of oil or coolant to that cylinder. Not sure exactly why.
After getting the Ministry of Defender dual AC/heater unit installed and plumbed, was finally driving her home. Got about a mile from home and she made a horrible noise and I couldn't restart her. I know voltage was good and she wasn't overheating. Towed it back to the shop. Engine won't turn...
Land Rover....turning owners into mechanics for 70 years...
I love my P38! but ownership is not without its issues. You either need to be patient and resourceful and willing to turn a wrench, or have very deep pockets and know a mechanic who knows these particular trucks. In this day and age...
Getting flexy...testing out 14 inch coilovers and leaf over axles in rear. Still need rear shocks and front springs r too stiff as they arent compressing.
Sorry to hear about those issues. P300 or P400? but sounds like telematics module would be same in both. I have a P300 with over 20k miles and a few thousand of those offroad.
The stock 'offroad' tires are the biggest loads of crap I have ever driven on. Worst tires on the planet. I blew 2 in...
It's been too long since I've posted up...2 years actually. I will try and not jump too fast but the big news is a new Cummins R2.8 is on its way!
Backtrack... installed TrailReady true beadlocks and Milestar Patagonia 37inch tires, rear Exmoor premium high back seats and full SD roll cage...
I highly doubt it will make a difference. I am very happy with the size as I didnt want to trim. My next set, I may go bigger but I am building an old Defender to do the rockcrawling. The 110 will be for nicer trips and towing a camp trailer.
