I've tried a couple of lightbars so far and a set of round LED "work lights". The common theme is that the specs are over inflated. One lightbar was advertised at 120 watts but ended up pulling around 40. The round led work lights (very similar to the ones pictures above) are advertised at 50...
Yup, looks identical. Probably made at the same factory?
Im surprised that nobody has measured the wattage on any of these. That would be an immediate indication of how quality they are.
Much appreciated. I’m with you, there’s something I don’t like about bars but the supposed value proposition sure makes them worth a try.
I shall go read the thread now.

Hello friends,
I'm trying to add some aux lighting to my vehicle. To that end I purchased a $50 20" lightbar off amazon. It looks decent, but I measured the current draw it turned out it was pulling 4 amp at 12V which would make it at 48 watt lightbar when the seller advertised it as a 120 watt...
Fair enough. I’m not suggesting that this can’t be done, I’m just looking for a lazy way out. The HF unit you linked appears to be only chargeable via Ac where’s the battery box I linked has all the electronics included. In any case I guess we are starting to split hairs both will work just fine...
I'm after the same thing @Martinjmpr, so I read this thread with some interest. While I feel I could build my own, I"m not sure it's worth the time.. and whether I could do it cleanly (for a really nice example check this one out...
Neat.
Goal Zero 1250 spec page says they are using a group 31 battery which is fairly pricy at $300. What else does it provide for the other $1200 that your battery box doesn't do? That's quite a premium.
Take a look at this post http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/4x4-off-road-tech/3460-black-rat-hand-winch.html#/topics/3460 lots of good info. I'm collecting my pennies and my dimes for a Wyeth scott with a synthetic line. Forged steel with a 3500lb dead hang rating. Smaller chance of injury...
Ahh I forgot about ebay!
Your solution looks nice, but I think I'd like something smaller right in dash somewhere: http://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-Digital-LCD-Display-Temperature-Meter-Indoors-Outdoors-Thermometer-Mini-/122318048714?hash=item1c7ab94dca:g:KykAAOSw4DJYgYol
Yeah that's such a cool idea though!
I actually bought a wireless probe/readout combo but the readout is huge. I can't find a good spot for it in the vehicle. The blue sea unit looks great though.
I'd like to add an outside temperature readout somewhere in the vehicle. I know there are optional mirrors I can buy, but at ~200USD I'm looking for a cheaper option.
Having trouble finding anything on the forums, but surely there must be something.
Thanks
No, unfortunately Pathaway doesn't do any cloud backup. I'm finding an occasional bug now. I have added a couple of points/pictures to the track I was on yesterday, now for the life of me I can't figure out how to export it. How do you find Hema? And what makes you explore other apps?
