    Astro interior conversion

If you don't have an Astro yet, try to find a way to spend some time in one with a measuring device. Failing that, download the GM Upfitter's guide: http://www.gmupfitter.com/body_builder_manuals.html Click on "Light Duty prior to 2006", then M/L Midsize vans. This will provide some, but not...

    Battery isolator installation?

I used the Bussman 150A breakers that were on the rack at my local Autozone. They're available in a variety of places: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=150a+circuit+breaker&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=8726468340869402060&sa=X&ei=yejfTdr2OsvdiALomdnkCg&ved=0CFEQ8wIwAA

    Another Subaru

Glad to hear it, you don't be disappointed! Tom (Kartboy) is a friend and a lot of the early Impreza parts were prototyped on my cars. He's consistently made high quality stuff, just very focused. Every time I try to get him to add a new part to the lineup, he studies the idea and rejects it...

    Another Subaru

Manual or Auto? If Manual, you NEED to get the Kartboy shifter and bushings. You may like some other stuff too: http://www2.kartboy.com/x4/home.php?cat=265

    ***SOLD*** Unimog U1550 L/37

Not that I can really afford this, but just to feed my lust a bit further - are there two seatbelt receivers on the passenger bench? (i.e. could this be a cozy 3-seater?) Thanks.

    RK's MANi-Van - UP FOR SALE

Are we sure it's a old-bars/new-bars thing and not the wrong torsion keys? I only mention it because somebody else on ASV a few weeks ago got the wrong torsion keys (for a different vehicle, presumably) shipped to him. OLV sells 'em but they don't ship them out, they're drop shipped from...

    Baby Carriers

I have a Deuter Kid Comfort II that I bought lightly used from another forum member. I used it a few more times and thought it was really comfortable, but my baby girl grew too darn fast! She's now over 30 lbs and with the added weight of water, camera, and a lunch, the pack now weighs more...

    4BT Cummins Jeep Wrangler JK

Even in California a diesel swap CAN be legal, but a 4BT would have to go into a similar chassis, i.e. if the engine comes from an HD chassis, it has to go back into one, so no swapping into a JK. I believe this is true in many states.

Mercedes considers Vito van for USA

Seeing how the automotive "fashion" pendulum is swinging in SoCal, I'd say a Mercedes-badged AWD or 4x4 minivan (aka crossover) could actually sell pretty well here. When the Sprinter first became available, of course the vast majority sold were long wheelbase hi-roof models, but there were...

    Awnings on your van?

I have an older "Norseman Apollo" awning I got with my GTRV donor van and transplanted to my Astro along with the pop-top. Norseman was apparently a Canadian awning maker, but can't find much info on them these days. I don't have a good picture of the brackets on my current van, but here's...

    Kitchen Kit/Chuck Box

That's a great idea. Did you have to do much to keep it from "collapsing"?

    Tiger (GT and XL) Hunting

Hey, we didn't ALL miss it - I started a thread when it popped up a couple of days ago - forgetting there was a "catchall" Tiger hunting thread: http://expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61465

    purchasing a plasma cutter (HELP)

This might be the criterion that hangs you up. Getting a 1/2" cut (clean) is going to be a bit tough. I've used good name-branch plasma cutters that have started to bevel the cuts with anything over 1/4", so if you really need a 1/2" cut you'll be looking at a BIG unit. Just a thought -...

Another teaser! Look what I got! Ambulance finally arrived

Nice choice on the paint. I've been musing about paint for my van and came to a similar conclusion, when it's time to do it, it'll probably be MAACO sort of mid-grade job. Since my van isn't going to be garaged and the paint will see sun, dirt, wind, rain, and of course the usual desert...

Astro Tiger Provan GT for Sale - Craigslist

http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/rvs/2382609531.html All the usual caveats, no affiliation, etc., just something my net dragged up. Price seems high as AWD isn't mentioned, but might be negotiable. This one is close enough to me that if an out-of-town forum member needed it looked at, I...

    110V/220V Battery and Solar Charger

Just to confirm with dwh, 'cause he's more experienced with this stuff, but there's no problem connecting multiple "chargers" to a battery, right? It seems like there shouldn't be, but I worry about the times when two might be trying to put power in at the same time (like when the sun is...

    RK's MANi-Van - UP FOR SALE

Well, I got my ratty '95 GTRV donor from Bellingham to San Diego in 21hours 45minutes, but that only included stops for bio-breaks, fuel, and two meals. Any sightseeing and jawjacking will likely slow you down, though. :wings:

    Budget Skamper Fix/Build

OK, I think we're going to need a lot more info and photos for that bike rack! Facing a similar problem with my Dutch-Door van, so a "swing away" bike rack would be a great solution. The usual "swing down" hitch mount rack is an option for me, but I'd like to reserve the hitch for other things...

    '97 Dodge Ram 2500, 4x4 Cummins Powered

Mike, were you driving the new rig through Mira Mesa yesterday afternoon? Thought I saw you at the MM Blvd/Camino Ruiz intersection on our way to Babies-R-Us. Very quick, didn't get a second look, much less a photo, but it definitely caught my eye and made me think it was you!

    Herbie's Chevy Astrolander/ZMB Build Thread

Yes, the GTRV pop-top transplant netted me a narrow upper bunk. Would be very cozy for two adults, but one adult or two kids should fit fine. The top of the mattress surface is 16" from the deck, to match the height of the bench when lowered to a bed. I had to be clever about how I built...
