Fred the Van. The More We Explore's Adventure Van Build Thread

FWIW here is the pricing I received from Firberine last year when I ordered my high top. Obviously this was uninstalled and I would assume going through a shop who orders more then one top at a time price would be better. 2010 GMC STD Length van 24" Bubble top w/ reverse...

Once you put a high top on you will wonder how you ever even questioned the decision.

The great white fun hog (another white GM awd build)

Just returned home from 4 weeks on the coast. The old fun hog did great other then a heater hose blow out. I had used the plastic Dorman heater tee's to tie in my hot water heat exchanger to the heater core hoses. And one of those plastic tee's broke, despite being sold as for radiator/heater...

Questions on what to look for when purchasing a full size van

Again a biased answer but to me it sounds like a high top GM conversion van would get you started in the right direction. My stock AWD GMC with a 5.3L was getting 17mpg hi way average before I added the bigger tires. Depending on how tall you are you may be able to stand in a standard high top...

The great white fun hog (another white GM awd build)

Correct airline track, L track, O track I have found it called out multiple ways. US cargo control seems to have the best pricing. Eh you know the saying jack of all trades master of none. I can do many things well but nothing perfectly and sometimes that gets on my nerves

The great white fun hog (another white GM awd build)

Progress is slowly trudging along through the 90 degree heat and 111% humidity Remade my dog crate doors. I always had intended for them to be some sort of webbing but couldn't find the correct donor material until now. 2016-08-02_06-14-21 by Danny Knowlan, on Flickr Also completed the...

Oh ********!!! Mistakes you have made

Well let's bring this back from the dead as I am always finding new and interesting ways to F things up. Almost always due to not having a clear plan when starting projects. Last fall I installed a Fiberine high top on my van. Sweet let's get this thing on and it can be insulated later. Turns...

COLORADO CAMPER VAN LLC-**Do business at your own risk**

I hate to pile on here but looking at the build quality I see in these pictures is very disapointing http://www.off-road.com/diesel/project/project-motovan-building-an-offroad-van-part-5-53220.html Now my personal build is far from perfect but I couldn't in good conscience charge a paying...

Look what I've gotten myself into! AWD Express van!

Here is the list from my 2010. I don't see anything in there indicating AWD, transfer case or front differential. But they made sure to include a code for the license plate bracket:rolleyes: 2016-07-10_06-38-12 by Danny Knowlan, on Flickr A12 WINDOW RR DR, STA AK5 RESTRAINT SYSTEM SEAT...

That is interesting. Now that you mention it I do not see a specific code for the transfer case either:confused:

Look what I've gotten myself into! AWD Express van!

Awesome. Thanks for that. Basically those confirm my thoughts that the 1500 and 2500 AWD vans are essentially the same. What's also interesting is that your GVW is the same as my 2010 1500 at 7300# Anyways thanks again and I look forward to the build. Cheers! Danny

Look what I've gotten myself into! AWD Express van!

Sweet! Looks like a great canvas to work with. If you wouldn't mind could you post your rpo codes? There has been some discussion of what separates the 2500 from 1500 AWD vans and knowing the codes for a 2500 may help.
