I'm not a gear head... would an LR3 be for me?

I like Chevys. But a 25 year old Chevy is going to need more repairs than a 15 year old Land Rover. If you’re looking at anything of that age, it is going to need repairs, even Toyota’s. So either be ready to pay a mechanic or watch a lot of YouTube videos.

Missed out on an LR3, now I have the bug. LR3 vs. LR4

I wanted a 3 originally, because they were usually cheaper and for the 4.4’s “reliability.” I missed a couple low miles ones (didn’t want over 100k or anything from where rust is a thing) and ended up with the 4. I love it. I can see someone who wants a trail rig or third car wanted a 3. Don’t...

Missed out on an LR3, now I have the bug. LR3 vs. LR4

The biggest difference when it comes down to blowing your wad on a repair is that the LR4 5.0 is a “one and done” motor. Overheat it, it’s toast. The water pumps and crossover pipes should be replaced every 70-90k according to the internet. Also, the timing chain failure is spoken about pretty...

RR L322 SC Sand Tire Question

I’d go with the Michelin Defenders in 255/55-20. If all your off road is just sand, you don’t need an aggressive tire. Yea, they’re expensive but they are GREAT tires. I wish I could get them in 19s and XL. If you want to not spend as much, you can get Falken Wildpeak AT trails in the same size...

RR L322 SC Sand Tire Question

If the Tuffants fit, so will the evo corse and compomottives. You can run 265/60-18 (which is stock LR3 size) with zero modifications.

RR L322 SC Sand Tire Question

Balder the better. I’d just be concerned about airing down often on a “weaker” tire.

RR L322 SC Sand Tire Question

255/60-19 Toyo AT3, or the Goodyears if you’re a fan. I’m not. You can get duratracs or adventures in 255/55-19 or 255/65-19. Not sure how the 65s will fit on the 322 (I’m sure just fine) but 60 is only 1” bigger than stock, that’s nbd.

RR L322 SC Sand Tire Question

2nd time. OEM 19s will fit early SC trucks without modifications.

RR L322 SC Sand Tire Question

You can fit LR3/4 19s on it just fine. I’ve been airing down my stock LR4 tires to about 20 on the beach without problems, will be going to 255/60-19 AT3s soon, you can run those as well.

Falken Wildpeak AT/3W - anyone running them? Opinions?

That’s a lot of weight difference. Probably P rated Falkens and the others are E rated

    New Defender News

This conversation is silly bc you can find 35s without a lift. Arctic trucks fit 34s easily. Start trimming plastic and call it a day. The subframe lift is boss, but unnecessary.

LR3/LR4 Rhino OX hitch weld failures

They sell cheap ass ones on Amazon, like $40, if that’s all you’re doing with it.

LR4 - Baja designs s8 20" hidden light bar install

another guy watching for the squadron install. I put some sylvania yellow bulbs on there, but they don't put out as much light as the fogs in my silverado did.

    2000 Chevy Silverado Z71 build

I can't remember if I had to lower the fuel tank or not (I had to do it for another project, its easy and can be done by one person if its nearly empty). I did do it all in my driveway in an afternoon. For U bolts, I recommend picking up a ruffstuff axle swap kit with real u bolts and plates...

    2000 Chevy Silverado Z71 build

Looks good so far! I had deaver AALs on my 05. You’re gonna want more payload than you’d get with the full deaver packs. Pick up a set of new 2500 leaf packs from whatever online or local shop, pop out the overload spring and then add the deaver AAL in its place without the “zero rate” stacks...

Post pictures of your Land Rover.

I’ve thought about going to OEM 18s and spacers. That’s not a bad way to go about it.

Not worth the money for 5 wheels, and then I’m probably ending up with heavy load range E tires. Truck sees 90% pavement. The Aussie forums say the 19s are good to 12-15 psi... I probably just need to adjust my performance expectations.

First beach drive. 20psi isn’t gonna be low enough, hopefully the 255/60-19s help a bit when I get those soon.

    Defender 110 Alternatives.

A 70 series Troopy, yea. Not a 1 or 200 for interior living space. OP needs a van.
