    Lifting Rods for RRS

I don’t have either, yet. I’m going with GAP since it is a code reader first and suspension tricker second. I don’t “need” the LLAMS... yet. Which is a nice on demand fast height adjustment.

    Lifting Rods for RRS

the general consensus here is not to do rods, and control your lift electronically via LLAMS or GAP IID. For steelies, TuffAnt or Lucky8.

    Looking for lr4!

good luck, the market is hot. However 120k isn't low mileage so you should be able to find something easily.

LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

My experience with Cooper AT3s is that the sidewalls are weak and the on road traction is so-so. Off road traction both wet and dry was as good as BFG AT KO2s. Noise was similar. I would go BFG over the Cooper all day. I am always impressed with them, even back in the day when they were still...

Onboard Spare parts when off-roading/overlanding with an LR4 / Discovery 4

I've dragged Jeeps out of rock gardens with broken off control arm mounts. It suuuuuucks.

Onboard Spare parts when off-roading/overlanding with an LR4 / Discovery 4

Those brackets are cheap and easy enough to be insurance against that break. Thats a BAD recovery situation. I'd rather drive out on the bumpstops.

That’s an interesting break for sure.

Need help picking a new truck!

Anything worth buying is hard to find now. Shipping something, or doing a fly then drive (even on something as “normal” as a 15 year old Chevy) is what we as enthusiasts need to do now. There is no such thing as an “undiscovered” platform anymore. GM full-sizes, Lexus trucks, hell even Land...

GAP Tool. That overrides most faults.

    Disco 1 vs Disco 3 (LR3)

Fingers crossed I never need to do mine. 6/2013 build date.

    Disco 1 vs Disco 3 (LR3)

If you enjoy wrenching, you'll be good with the D1. And I'd argue that a one or two owner sub 75k LR4 will be more reliable than a 5,6,7 owner 150k+ LR3. Either way... pay up front, or pay later. It's still a Rover. The timing chain thing is for real, but if you get one that was taken care of...

    Disco 1 vs Disco 3 (LR3)

D1 now. Skip the LR3 and go right to a 4 in a couple years. Nice D1s are going to get even more expensive than they already are as time marches on, so you may be able to own one for very cheap if you sell it later.

    Disco 1 vs Disco 3 (LR3)

oh yea. and the issues I experienced are really well documented. anyone who has done a google search on "common land rover discovery problems" would be aware of them.

    Disco 1 vs Disco 3 (LR3)

My D1 was actually super reliable until the head gasket popped. Lots of road trips and wheelin, never skipped a beat until that day. Then I drove it for another two months with K Seal in it, then on a freezing cold day the fan clutch seized and threw the blades through the radiator and hoses.

    Disco 1 vs Disco 3 (LR3)

The 4.4 isn’t an instant boat anchor when the SHTF like the 5.0, but I’d still wager against ANY neglected Rover, old or new, unless you absolutely know what you’re getting into. Things go from “fixer upper” to “hair pulling anxiety attack” real quick. I’d offer that guy $1000 which is what you...

    Disco 1 vs Disco 3 (LR3)

Ok, so I think I understand you. I own a D4 now, but I will always miss my D1. The 4 is a better car in every single way. 3x the power, infinitely more comfortable, more reliable, much safer, quieter, blah blah. It’ll never be as cool as a D1. Doesn’t matter how many tents, bumpers, and maxtrax...

    Disco 1 vs Disco 3 (LR3)

For wheeling, D1. For driving/overlanding/trails anything else, LR3. Its getting pretty hard to find "good" ones, since they aren't nearing the collectible phase yet. A lot of junk is still out there for cheap. Its the opposite for D1s now, most are in good shape and have a high asking price...
