Guidance needed: ZJ or GMT360? (Jeep vs. GM)

Get a GMT800 Tahoe with the G80 rear locker. Cheap, reliable, plenty of power. A nice step up from a ZJ. I had two XJs and can't go back to something that small, even though a full-size is still really big to me.

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

King makes 6" travel 2.5s. JD Fab recommends them with their mid travel coil over setups on the GMT800. https://www.polyperformance.com/shocks/shocks-by-type/coil-over/2-5-body/king-2-5-performance-series-coil-over-reservoir-shocks

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

I dropped the fuel tank on my Silverado and it was much easier than I expected. Out in probably 45 minutes, back up in half the time. On the ground with a near empty tank, with a buddy helping stabilize.

Advice Needed:: Tacoma owner considering a ZR2

I was never blind-love Toyota fanboy, though I do really like a lot of their older trucks. The new one wasn't my cup of tea at all when it came out, but it's growing on me. Add to the fact that my buddy's got almost the same fuel mileage as my '05 1500 when it is empty TOWING a Jeep (super...

    Let's see your GMT800 headlights

I'm a big fan of an upgraded headlight harness and bulbs. I put new housings on my truck (the cat eyes fog up pretty bad compared to the SUV and early truck lights) with good bulbs and really don't see the need for anything better. Everything is more than adequate and if I need more I'll look to...

    Tire Recommendations for GMT800 Tahoe?

I don't think you'll have a problem with 40-50k. I hated my AT3s but they weren't even 50% worn with 40k on them. I have 20k on my K02s and they still have the nubs on em.

    Goose - Our Poptop FZJ80

Hey I found your thread. Everyone is getting on those RA flaps... I have to get myself some, but I prefer the floppies which are much more $. Snorkel looks mint, now you're as cool as that Scion.

    Tire Recommendations for GMT800 Tahoe?

Poor traction in wet and snow, poor traction under braking, sliced two sidewalls offroad.

    Tire Recommendations for GMT800 Tahoe?

FWIW I hated the AT3s on my Rover. Really happy with the KO2s on the truck.

    Headlight & Taillight replacement

Only put HIRs in your high beams, the lows will scatter a bit and can bother other drivers on the road. I put all TYC headlights from amazon on my 05 Silverado and I'm very happy with them.

    Why so few GM Builds?

You know that truck has a big block and they were doing a front dig with a 5:1 low range and 37s on when that front diff blew right??? You can easily break stock 30 spline outers in a 60 doing that.

    Why so few GM Builds?

This thread is dumb. Should we start measuring weiners? Why is it when someone suggests swapping a V8 into ANYTHING the first answer is "LS swap"? and not "5.4 swap" or "5.7 Hemi swap"? Because GM has and has had the most reliable and economical (as far as upkeep goes) family of gasoline motors...

Keep Tahoe or step up to Suburban?

No reason to swap. If the 4l60 dies, get a HD rebuild.

Keep Tahoe or step up to Suburban?

Size is up to you, only you can say whats too big or too small for your travel needs. I do a lot of beach stuff. The Suffolk permit allows you access to overnight camping at the limited access at Smith Point and Theodore Roosevelt in Montauk; but unfortunately you need a "self-contained camper"...

Keep Tahoe or step up to Suburban?

Hey fellow LI'er! I looked at a couple Tahoes, I'm 6' and could sleep in the back no problem with the seats folded down. It depends on how much gear and people you're bringing along... Most of my trips are me and my dog, so that was more than enough room. Don't forget you can easily add a roof...
