    Blender, My LX450/FZJ80 + FJ45esk + GM + Land Rover crazy concoction

So what's the deal on your tool bags? I too carry my off-road tools in a bag, and finding just the right one...well, I've never found just the right one.

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

The shop is called Commercial Speedometer. They are in Sacramento. I have not used them yet, but they should be able to fix this problem. Restoring gauges... I might look for a gauge restoration specialist.

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

Thanks. No, I haven't used any gauge shops locally. I used a shop in Walnut Creek when I lived in the bay area, but I doubt they're still around. I have also used a shop in Wisconsin, but with mixed success. There is a shop in Sac that I want to try out, so maybe this is a good opportunity.

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

Update - Been driving the Jeep. Got a whopping 88 miles on it so far. Working out the bugs, which hasn't been overwhelming, like on some project vehicles. Only a couple items have needed correcting. The fuel filler neck leaked at the union to the breather line. Took it out, cleaned it up...

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

You guys were able to do a restoration in 8 months? Wow! T18 would be a nice upgrade. I had this body on the rotisserie for a solid 8 weeks alone. One thing I learned about mid year Jeep CJ's...never start with a basket case. Some of the missing parts were amazingly difficult to source.

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

Months ago, I had only a few things left to get this project finished. Well, I am happy to report, the Jeep is finally done. One major sticking point was the windshield frame. I could not find a correct 1974 windshield frame that was usable, so we bought one from Omix-Ada. What a piece of...

FJ62 LS Swap - Lone Star Sleeper - Stoffregen Motorsports

I believe we have already connected through email, but yes, you can defintely get rid of the Toyota ECU and all associated electronics. In fact, so much of the OEM Toyota becomes defunct after the swap that I am considering building a completely new harness for these swaps.

    FJ60 E-ROD Swap - SRMINT - Stoffregen Motorsports

I never did give this thread a proper finish, and I apologize for that. The truck has been completed, has passed 50 state emissions certification and has been delivered to the customer who actually drives it. I will post more pics of the finished product. In the meantime, if you want to see...

    FJ60 E-ROD Swap - SRMINT - Stoffregen Motorsports

Typically, GM uses 17 tooth for manual applications and 40 tooth for automatic. If your ECM came from a vehicle that was equipped with an auto trans, then it more than likely is using a 40 tooth count in the software. A lot of those variables are able to be changed, so if you have a good tuning...

That panel comes with the GM "Connect and Cruise" package. I do like it because it's pretty compact and it also has extra slots, which can fill up fast.

    FJ60 E-ROD Swap - SRMINT - Stoffregen Motorsports

Thank you. I have the ref appointment next week. I've been very careful to follow the guidelines to the letter, and I've even made friends with a local ref supervisor who lets me call him on his personal cell, so I think it's going to pass on the first try. If it doesn't...then plan b.

BJ74 Land Cruiser - Overland Journal's Project Vehicle

Most times, the writer relies on second hand information, which can be wrong or just lacking. Have you tried contacting the magazine or the writer? A good friend of mine is a magazine writer and we often discuss the content. I lean heavily towards tech content, with do it yourself writeups, but...

    FJ60 E-ROD Swap - SRMINT - Stoffregen Motorsports

So the real update is that the truck is all but finished. We had some problems getting the A/C cooling fan wiring sorted out. When the electric fans come on, it sets a trouble code with the ECM. We tried isolating the fan relays with diodes, but we're still working out the bugs. Another huge...

    FJ60 E-ROD Swap - SRMINT - Stoffregen Motorsports

More new parts. We ditched the old 16" aluminum wheels and BFG MTs in favor of new OEM 17" FJ Cruiser wheels and BFG ATs. I like the look of steelies. We also wanted to try out some aftermarket FJ62 style door mirrors. While they don't look exactly like the FJ62 mirrors, these are pretty...

    FJ60 E-ROD Swap - SRMINT - Stoffregen Motorsports

The devil is in the details. We all know that. Figuring out solutions for some of these details can be difficult, as the sky's the limit. The shifter for the t-case hit the floor. This happens because the motor position has been shifted slightly. A simple heat and bend, along with a new coat of...

    FJ60 E-ROD Swap - SRMINT - Stoffregen Motorsports

I don't know who came up with the design for the modern single DIN stereo mounting sleeve, but it is brilliant...if you like easy installation and head unit that shakes when you hit bumps int he road. The OEM mounting is the only way to go, but I am not aware of any conversion brackets for...
