Thanks.
The punches are just one tool in the box and I use them a lot. One of these days, I'll get around to making the custom shaped punch and flarte dies for my iron worker. Though they wouldn't help me punching holes in the body of a car, they would help with custom fabrication. I know...
Updates? I wish. There are only four items left on this project and I just can't get any free time to get them done.
I did get the air cleaner modified to fit around the new brake booster. I also have finally come up with a plan of how to get rid of the small spot welds that appear all over the...
The green FJ60 I built in 2016 gets almost 20 mpg on road trips and that's with a manual and 3.70 gears in the diffs. I am hoping we'll get similar in this truck.
Thank you.
And lastly, for today, the EVAP canister.
Finding just the right place to mount this behemoth proved a challenge. I ended up finding the perfect spot.
First I had to make mounting brackets.
Here is where it ended up. Hidden but accessible.
And to make sure everything fits, it's a good...
A couple of other items knocked off the list.
Machining the mounting ring for the air intake tube to air box connection.
The AFM boss and "foul air tube" (PCV) boss in the intake tube.
Starting on the heater hoses. Using the original steel hose connectors gives it that OEM look, but...
Underneath the fuse panel is where I like to make my battery connections. Since I do not like to have more than a couple cables going to each post on the battery itself, I use a power post as a junction block for extra connections, like the winch.
I may or may not buss these two post...
I may have mentioned it before, maybe not in this thread, but certainly in others. Every job is different. That's the beauty of having custom work done. No two are the same.
Getting to use quality new components that have been carefully thought out and put into a kit was a very exciting feature...
Thanks. I find myself using it more and more these days. Not necessarily to apply beads that look nice, but for taking the oil-can out of a panel or for greater strength. The bead on the intake tube is an obvious benefit.
The engine mounts are from Advance Adapters. They are a bit on the bulky side, but I have reasons for using them.
A- they are very easy to use.
B- they offer a ton of cushion, while not being soft.
C- they are easy to source when replacement time comes. The style has been in use for at least...
I am using the filter that came with the E-ROD kit. The cone filters do a pretty good job, but if you aren't comfortable, there are sock style prefilters available.
Thanks so much. I am glad it all came together. Thanks to everyone who helped.
I am definitely biased, but to me, the sound does not seem out of place. These vehicles were made for V8's.
I bought two Harbor Freight die grinders last year. Both of them were junk inside a minute. I didn't even waste my time to return them, I just chucked them in the trash.
When I started my shop, almost everything was either Chinese or used-high-quality. Over the past couple of years I have been...
Fabricating an air box is not something that everyone agrees upon. Most guys who do engine swaps just hang the air filter out there and leave it at that. But then that air cleaner sucks up heat from under the hood...? Yes, the original engine that came in the FJ60 breathed under hood air, but...
