    Thinking Refrigerator..

Getting closer to completing the exterior of my truck camper, so my thoughts are turning to specific's on the interior. Seems cost wise, there isn't much difference between an upright box frig or one of the chest units I see a lot of folks using. I was heading towards a standard upright mainly...

    Build Primer?

Coils and struts complete! Brought me within an 1" of level! Darn close to what I expected to happen.. So happy! Heading to the rear now to remove the bed. I'm researching tires and like these Toyo Open Country A/T ii 's. Looking at the LT25580R17. They measure out at just over 33" tall and I...

Critique my solar charger/battery monitor setup?

I do suggest doing a power/solar audit. Dual 6v's and 400w's of panel don't match up well.. Under-powered batt's for over-powered solar, in my mind. Then I'd look very closely at reducing power consumption as much as possible. Here's a sample of my audit. Dual 6v's (going lithium in spring)...

Still drawing and working through the upcoming build. Rear bumper question... Why close it off? I'm drawing a 1.5" x 1.5" tube bumper with plate under and on the sides for slides/skids. I like it open... What am I missing??? Seems all I look at are closed.

Coils are in, springs are here. Going to have some time this week and temps are above freezing (mid 30's- 40's). Decent shot of getting the front end and answer the unknown question... Will it raise me 1"?? Guess I'll know fairly soon!

Okay so far I have chosen the Bilstein 5100's for shock replacements. Went with a Moog replacement front coil (seems most of the sag is age). Rear I still haven't decided on how to deal with the leaf's. Leaning towards the ReadyLift 1.5" Add-a-Leaf (like the cost and the way it installs).

Running gambit of reviews.. Seems if someone bought Sumo Springs 'It's the way to go' and of course those that AAL'ed feel the same. Then you find the real honest folks that have Sumo and switching to AAL and of course the opposite as applies. Sumo seems the complain is it runs stiff. Figure it...

The Spring Shop I sent so many folks to over the years no longer engineer's the add-ons... That service is now gone.. bummer. Looks like this is going to take a bit more research than I hoped.. Anyone have a good site to work from?

    Build Primer?

I have purposely designed with very little weight over the cab! Beauty of a pop-top! Actually the majority of the weight is still bed height. Best I figure right now is 10-15% of the weight is above what would be bed rail height. I just saw a unit where only 8" was above the cab (thought the...

Please confirm for me.. I was told if I change the rear gears, I need to do the front as well. Told they have to match.

Found my stock 'rake' (new term to me). 3.6" at curb weight, 4.5" of rear leaf travel (loaded) and .4" rake loaded. Source is the F150 Builder's Spec Book (I found where I put my copy). I have 1690lbs as maximum payload and figuring all in I'll be adding (at most) 800lbs as fixed weight. Need to...

Anyone know what my OEM front coil height was (should be). I'm not getting a clear code to tell if it's 16" or 17" standard load. In 16yrs I figure I've lost some height, but not an inch.. Yet again, I haven't a clue..

Conversation with the spring shop resulted in rear no issue, yet front coils would be a 2" raise minimum. It's just what they make.. So that lead me to.. I haven't even measured what I have! So out I went. Ground to wheel well top F/R, top of tire to wheel well F/R, then ground to body F/R...

    DIY Composite Flatbed Camper Build

I just caught up to this build! Well done! I am about to head down a similar path. First question is: Why did you keep the flatbed? I'm figuring I can lower a bit by camper-on-frame. Very curious if I'm missing something.. major.. Then comes: Did you look at fiberglass cloth vs. FRP? If so...

Okay now, my process to date has been: Engine. It's not going to last, stop right there! Frame. Same as engine Body. Rust spots repaired Now I have a base to work with. Figure next steps as: 1" Lift. I require the rear to be upgrade a bit anyway. Tires. I'm doing a 4500 mile byways run to a...

Found the Tranny and spring info on the Ford Forum. Good there now. Had an opportunity to look under a F250 that been lifted at the shop today. Front coils looked like he put a spacer block over the coil. That looks like an easy way to gain the inch I wish up front. Pro's / Con's to doing...
