Any new info on tred pros

I have admittedly put them through only limited use, but am pleased as can be with my TRED Pros. Minimal bending, no separations, no lug issues, no cracking. I'm very impressed with this product, especially considering their lifetime guarantee and affordability relative to the popular competitor.

We've been having some nice winter weather here in northwest Washington State recently. We started with snow, then had freezing rain, more snow, more freezing rain, then more snow. The windward side of the Mighty Mitsu had almost 3/4" of solid ice on her! After lots of time running in the...

    New Owner - 2000 Montero

Nice find! As was said previously, the engine work you need is nothing compared to the work that would be needed to resurrect a tired body. Welcome! Can't wait to see the evolution of your project.

    Benny's Gen 3 Montero

I really like seeing the closeups...it's clear that this truck gets used and enjoyed. From up close it looks just like mine! :friday:

That's a sweet find! You're going to love it. Idaho is one of my favorite places to explore! Here's my daughter as we returned from a camping trip in Yellowstone several years ago; shot taken just outside of Arco, before I'd done any mods other than new tires (265/75). And here's the mighty...

So is the gen III really that good

Nope, but I do run Rotella T (dino oil, heavy duty diesel spec). It's probably my favorite oil and affordable enough to allow regular oil changes where I don't cringe while draining out the spendy synthetic stuff. My '01 seems like a typical Gen III: plush & comfy, extremely tough, extremely...

    Preferred DIY paint for sliders/skids?

No, no coating of any sort will hold up to that, so you have to count on occasionally touching up the paint. But it isn't that which causes 99% of the damage to my skids, it's the thousands of miles of gravel roads. The painted finish holds up much better than the most carefully applied rattle...

Rubber diamond plate panels and some kind of bracket on the hood? Any ideas?

Wow. Just wow. Maybe those brackets are where he attaches his red shackles.

    Preferred DIY paint for sliders/skids?

I asked this exact question over on ADV Rider a couple of years ago and got excellent advice from some professional painters. No rattle can will give the same thickness and durability as a good brushed-on finish. I actually had fair results with spray Rustoleum (and am very careful about prep...

So, I Monstalined my Gen. 3

Hey, it looks great and is a wonderful compromise as opposed to scrapping the thing after the accident. I used Monstaliner after pulling all the plastic cladding and am very, very pleased with how tough it is. Following the very detailed instructions is key (good surface prep and application...

    3rd Gen Montero Questions

That obstacle looks pretty straightforward. If by "the salute" you mean the lifting of a front wheel due to limited travel, I would argue that this is not so much a technique as merely the result of limited articulation in a vehicle with independent suspension. In other words, you're not TRYING...

Gen III Super Select Blinky Lights: A New Twist

Kyle, You're saying that yours behaved exactly like this and that you fixed the problem by swapping in new solenoid valves? I've done that, and have traced the vacuum lines with no problems found. I was kind of hoping to have found a place where a rat chewed through one of the vacuum...

Gen III Super Select Blinky Lights: A New Twist

The front green lights blink steadily in 2wd. They go solid when it shifts to 4wd. The center orange comes on appropriately when the transfer case is locked. After driving for a while (the time varies) in 2wd, the greens go out and the center orange will flash. I could put the lamps back into...

Gen III Super Select Blinky Lights: A New Twist

Update: replaced the solenoid valves, no change. Removed and tested the freewheel switch, it tests fine per FSM. The damned system PERFORMS as it should...I took one of my daughters out to play in the mud this evening...but we get the blinking when 2wd selected. I hate gremlins.

    Back Country Navigator Review

Thanks for the time and effort you put into this. If I may make a suggestion, why not get a bit more familiar with the program, then shoot another video to replace this one? The video seems to depict a program that doesn't work, but I'm sure that's not your intention.

Positional: Simple GPS App w/ Coords, Elevation, Speed, Bearing

Mike, this is a great app! Many of us still carry paper maps (or charts if on the salt water) and this simple little app allows a quick fix. It's the quickest and simplest way to get my exact coordinates, a necessary bit of information if I'm going to relay my position to friends or rescuers. I...
