Security while sleeping inside vehicle; Backup alarm sensor?

If you have to have such a thing, it would be simple to mount the Radio Shack devices angled downward to give whatever activation distance you want. Some flat aluminum stock from the big box hardware store could be bent to provide exactly the angle you want, and either mounted magnetically...

COOPER DISCOVERER: Middle-earth by Montero...with Four Kids

Those are some lucky boys! They'll remember this stuff all their lives and will most likely continue such wonderful family adventures with their own kids. I grew up in Virginia and have the fondest memories of exploring with my dad.... Too young, too many? Hell no! Thanks so much for sharing!

COOPER DISCOVERER: Middle-earth by Montero...with Four Kids

Oh, this is excellent! I knew back when you first posted that video months ago of the boys sleeping in the truck that great things would be coming. Thanks for sharing!

Anyone ever install alum diamond plate on their hood...similar to LR

Land Rovers with flat-topped fender wings (series and Defender) can benefit from the chequer plate because their owners often kneel and stand on those flat fenders. It's much less commonly applied to the hood. There are certainly much better ways of reducing glare from your roof lights, chief...

    Gen3 side plastic color ideas

Krylon makes one of the few paints that adheres fairly well to plastic. Meticulous surface prep is key. In the end, however, it's just spray paint and it's not a barrier of any kind against further damage. When/if you do decide to apply something tough, consider ditching the plastic altogether...

Gitout.com - Ultimate Expedition Build - 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Limited

It really did turn out to be an amazing rig. I agree that the rear protection is inspiring...gives me ideas! So what's the bottom line on the 34 inch tires with 4.90 gears? Do you have accurate before/after mpg and speed figures?

This would make an awesome overland rig

A tasteless exercise by a clueless owner. What a waste of a nice rig.

A story about slaying electrical gremlins.

Bee-yoo-tiful! :luxhello: I'm a learn-as-you-go guy myself, and have certainly learned a lot from my Gen III. It hasn't been about problems so much as about solutions...understanding the nature of the beast: a 15 year old rig that gets pounded pretty hard on occasion. I'm consistently amazed at...

    Removed Running Boards, plug holes?

I pulled all the cladding from my Gen III, leaving 30-some holes per side. I learned how to weld and welded them all closed. Lots of folks have used body filler. The results vary, with the filler popping loose in many cases. Of course, some folks just leave them.

    Removed Running Boards, plug holes?

Do you mean that you've removed the plastic body cladding?

The Tab 3 has built-in GPS. No data connection necessary for outstanding navigation capabilities that will embarrass most any dedicated GPS for a fraction of the cost.

    NATO can spout craziness

My NATO spout is the original and features a secondary channel to flow air back into the tank as you pour. Fuel comes out very quickly. Having said that, I agree with the siphon practice and use it myself, preferring to avoid holding the full can up in the air.

    roof rack / observation platform?

I don't claim to have come up with this idea, but rather heard about it somewhere online. It can be left in place or removed easily. It's just held down with zip ties.

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

Excellent! My cabin air filter is a project I keep forgetting about...until we hit the desert! Hadn't even thought about those rear flaps. Thanks for putting this up!

    roof rack / observation platform?

I did this on my Gen 3 Montero. No gutters, so I removed the OEM roof racks and put aluminum channel down each side, the full length of the roof. My home-built rack's feet mount to this. The rack is rectangular with round crossbars for ordinary use. Plastic poultry flooring fits into the rack as...

Cooper Discoverer: Backing Down Elephant Hill for Love

Oh yes he was! Several days later, after coming out of a restaurant in Moab, we found his card on our windshield with a nice little note wishing us well. The guy is a 100% class act.
