Go for the 4x4 conversion man, but fix the leak first. Could turn into a significant repair. Take a real hard look over the van body, undercarriage, etc.
Agree with most. I think it's a great candidate for 4x4 conversion. IMO the frame and chassis should have added protective coating, which is an area I see most skip on these 4x4 conversions. As some have said, the ride on a straight axle 4x4 van can be unforgiving. If you can find someone to use...
All covers are not created equal and some can definitely chaf the paint. Can't be any worse than the sun in TX. I leave mine uncovered. I think monthly washing and semi-annual wax job is the key.
I've seen a sportsmobile made with hammocks. May still be on their gallery. If I recall there was room for four to sleep without using a pop up. If it was me I'd make some bunk beds that fold up along the walls, two on each side, or just get her a tent man. She will probably enjoy the privacy of...
Not quite high enough for my liking. Down here in TX any short canopy like that has the effect of adding heat if it's not far enough away from your head.
Went thru this myself recently and bought the cleanwaste after reading reviews because it sits up higher than the reliance version, which for me made all the difference. I believe the seat may be larger as well.
I agree with others that a conversion van is best way to start, but also agree that you do not want a 1/2 ton conversion van. You can find a 3/4 ton or 1ton but they are rare and cost more, but way worth it and they will hold their value much better. They have beefier axle's, transmissions, and...
Cool van. If your already going off the road as is then I would recommend a front tow hitch so it can be pulled out from the front, which will also come with tow hooks http://www.curtmfg.com/HitchLookup/find?year=2002&make=Ford&model=E-250+Econoline
Of course the trailer hitch would serve...
No problems with paint on my white chevy van, circa 2002 with 155K miles on it. I'm not the original owner so it may have been be repainted. I agree no shortage of white chevy van's on the road with paint peeling off.
I agree, not very safe. Not something my wife would let me drive with kido's in it. I think it's a terrible idea. If your thinking you may want to change engines or convert to 4wd just go buy a newer 4wd van or a diesel van man. It will cost the same as trying to convert or repower this old van...

This is pretty close and may work better.
