The size of an RTT is not a joke. I bought one that was a little bit too small and spent two years trying to learn to sleep in it. In the end, I bought a van. Just couldn't make do.
Given what these tents cost, telling someone that it should be "close enough" is irresponsible. It is no little...
Hmmm. That sounds like a lot of work. Given that there is usually booze involved with my campfires, it's hard to say if I would remember to turn on the heat early.
Nights around here are typically between 25º and 45º (where I camp for the three seasons). What type of mattress would be best for...
Finally got a little bit done in preparation of spring. My Bro-In-Law and I pulled the old solar vent out of the ceiling and patched the hole. In a couple of weeks we will prep and coat the roof with Monsta Liner before installing the roof rack.
The guy that installed this vent wasn't **********...
OK, here is a complication to the memory foam question.
I am installing a Propex in my van. Suppose I turn on the heat a couple of hours before bedtime to bring the temp up to 60º in the van. Would the memory foam then be "regular"? Or, would it need to acclimate for much longer than an hour or...
Wow, if you can get a support system without a rack (bars only) and the Alu Cab tent is only 170 lbs....and the awning will mount right to it....
Then that might be one of the lightest setups you can put on the roof with that awning. Cool.
Another tip from experience. My Baroud is 79 inches...
And...Autohome makes a small Columbus XL. It's much narrower at 51 X 91. Maybe that would be a better choice. The Front Runner brackets for the Shadow Awning would work just fine the way they are. The Columbus medium XL is 57 inches wide. Might be a better fit for the rack...but a bit tight (and...
I had a similar setup on a 2-door JK (except for the height issue...I'm six foot). You might want to consider using a Front Runner Slimline II rack and the Alu-Cab Shadow Awning. A Baroud XXL will mount on it as well but will be 10 inches wider. I found the best way to mount my Baroud was to use...
I second this. I bought a 2016 Outback with the intention of "overlanding" with it. We have the six-banger and a Baroud RTT. Still gets 25 MPG with the tent and it's an awesome, economical, and comfortable drive when you are going far. It has also been 100% reliable for three years. X-Mode acts...
I skimmed the thread and I didn't see anyone mentioning Arc'teryx pants. They are really awesome. When I switched from jeans I bought six pairs of the dead bird a little over six years ago in different models and colors, and I am still wearing them. No holes, so stains, no problems except one (a...
Here is a local one in my area. 4X4, would just need cabinets and internal infrastructure.

Hi!
I got out 15 or 20 times this summer. I've stripped the Jeep and am building a van now, but still have the Chaser and all my gear (for use with the Jeep). We will need to get together this spring. I can invite you to some of the local campouts in the Bitterroot area, and you can show me some...
