    FrontRunner Rack Measurements

Here are some pictures I took while extending my rack. A couple show the ends of the slats up close. The "end" slats are the same except a little wider with a 45º corner cut to work with the radius corners. We have received 18 inches of snow in the last 24 hours. When I have my boots on...

Official Test Results: Five Ways to Heat a Tent

I have spend several summers playing with hammocks and have investigated winter use (lots and lots of reading). As chet6.7 mentioned, check out "shug" on youtube. He does a lot of winter hammock camping (in Minnesota I believe). Seems like the best way to do it is to have a winter-rated mummy...

HillBillyRV Build Thread - 87 Ford E350 Quadravan Pathfinder Conversion

This morning my Bro-in-law and I repaired the rear roof gutter in preparation of Monstaliner. As you can see it is a little rusty in some places, and a lot rusty in others: This the really bad spot. If the rear doors are open when it's raining the water runs directly into the floor of the...

What do you use for a truck gun?

Like several others have said, I'm just too scared of losing a quality firearm if left in the rig. My pop gave me a Ruger SP101 when I turned 18 (which was a pretty cool pop gun for a youngin') and it was stolen from my car within a couple of months. Scarred me for life man! I bought an SA XD-S...

I decided that I can't justify new locking drawer slides for the JeepKitchen, so I put it back together today using the original "plain-jane" full extension slides that it came with. It was a lot of work, but I took the opportunity to move the fridge slides towards the front of the cabinet. I...

Yup. It will work with 1 inch bars under the RTT.

    FrontRunner Rack Measurements

It is 15/16 sir. If you are planning for spacers (RTT, etc.) might want to go 1 inch to avoid squeaking during travel though. I have a Slimline II that isn't mounted at the moment. If you need any measurements or pics let me know.

old beat up Isuzu Trooper finds a new purpose in life

Great thread. Great build. Everything you need and nothing you don't. Small enough to get to cool places easily and probably didn't cost you 60K! Liked the video too. Thank you for not having corny music throughout the video in an attempt to be hip. :p

I spent a little time on further planning too. Mainly about the kitchen. I had half-heartedly tried to sell the "Jeep Kitchen" that was in my JK. Didn't get any takers though. So I've decided to use it in the van. I'm used to it, it works, and the only thing that sucks about it is the Mickey...

Today I did a mockup of the rack install in preparation of ordering gutter brackets for it. Took a few pictures. So, doing this by yourself takes a little planning. Here is what I worked out. First picture is the prep to lift the rack. As you can see I used two 3/4 slices of CDX to keep the...

Which tent for frequent use by tall people? Alucab, JB?

Well done AdventureReady. I wish all manufacturers and/or resellers would post the actual weights of the RTTs in question.

Moby1 Going Out Of Business? Has Anyone Received A Deposit Return?

That is awful. I hope that the legal owners of this company are stripped of their personal possessions and that the monies are returned to all customers with unfulfilled contracts. What are the chances of that happening though?

Which tent for frequent use by tall people? Alucab, JB?

I found it here. But, I don't know much about the Alucab tents. Might be a different model or something. If a standard size Baroud in fiberglass is listed at 160 lbs. (I have never actually weighted mine)...it does sound awfully suspicious that a full aluminum chassis adds only 10 lbs.

Need Help in Buying Adventure RTT Trailer...

Yup, I have one for sale for $9500.00 right now too with a Globe Trotter tent on it. Problem is that it's the wrong time of year to sell, and they have to be somewhat close. I spent 9 hours in the car to pick mine up. :) You need to watch forums such as this one daily and have the money ready...

I decided to keep it dark blue ( I am waaaaaay too lazy to paint the interior part a different color). I ordered the chits from Monsta liner and we are going to go with "Midnight Special"...which is just a dark blue. The Bro-In-Law just painted his 40's Jeep with Desert Sand and it looks...

The "new" heavy power supply is fused at the front (battery), the brake wire is fused at the brake controller, and the factory wiring is fused in the factory panel. I always fuse where I takeoff...so that if my wiring is bad, the trailer wiring will stop working and the factory wiring should...

    Another Van Build... E350 V10 4x4 & Cargo Trailer

That's exactly what I was getting at. I didn't think about rotation. Cool build. I think I will put the tire on my rack and build a steel trash box (bear resistant) on the rear door. Of course, the first time I need to pull that spare off the roof I may regret it.

    WTB: Hardshell RTT

Agreed. RTTs are the first step toward "for realsies" RV ownership. We are all young, broke, and either can't or won't afford a $1000.00 p/month RV payment. Rest assured though....you will wind up owning an RV. Chances are that you will be able to stretch out and sleep in it too. :)

    WTB: Hardshell RTT

I agree that the length of an RTT is not the only important aspect. I do say that the length is the primary aspect. Again, if you can't sleep comfortably in an RTT, then everything else is silly "overlanding" nonsense. For example, "Gee, I'm sure glad that I can climb up into this tent on the...

    WTB: Hardshell RTT

Sorry, not trying to be a jerk. It seems that I did "seriously fail to notice". Just wanted to make it clear that the ONLY important decision about buying an RTT is to be sure you can sleep in it. I spent months researching an RTT only to find out that I chose poorly. T'was an expensive mistake.
