CL FIND // 2000 MITSUBISHI MONTERO - $4500 (PORTLAND, OR)

Update: This ******* is posting ads all over the United States for this Montero, a Montero Sport, and a Jag. First, he was "Mr Eugene" and used a Portland Verizon cell number (971-227-8827). In his latest ads he uses MY NAME with a Seattle T-Mobile cell number (206-697-4234). His ads say that...

Considering a Gen III, a few questions

Here's what someone wrote about this difference: "XLS is supplied with a four-speed automatic transmission, part-time 4WD and a two-speed transfer case. Limited comes with a five-speed automatic with a Sportronic sequential shifter and ActiveTrac electronic full-time AWD coupled with a...

Considering a Gen III, a few questions

Agree. I scoured the internet and, cash in hand, was ready to pounce when I found the one I wanted. I found mine in Las Vegas, and did a fly-n-drive.

Considering a Gen III, a few questions

I never use anything but the cheapest grade (87 at sea level, less in the mountains), and the thing runs just fine.

Considering a Gen III, a few questions

My Gen III is a wonderful car. It's Mitsubishi-reliable, and has no known "issues" that plague so many other vehicles. My 2001 Limited is a bona fide luxury vehicle, all-day comfortable for cross-country trips, and yet is more competent off-road than many other stock SUVs. The Monteros have...

    SOFpirate's 1996 Montero LS buildthread.

I thought that the early SRs had a 4.62 diff ratio and that they raised it to 4.27 in '97. Seems for most folks building a rig, those lower ratios (earlier ones) would be the ticket.

Are Montero's Reliable and Common Enough for World Travel?

If someone were to buy a crated Mitsu diesel engine from overseas, would it drop right in to a Gen 2.5? How about the same notion for a Gen 2?

Are Montero's Reliable and Common Enough for World Travel?

Monteros are generally regarded as having some of the strongest and most durable running gear out there. They very, very rarely break, even when made into crawlers with stupidly big lifts and tires. They would seem to be much more common in just about every other country besides the USA! Touch...

CL FIND // 2000 MITSUBISHI MONTERO - $4500 (PORTLAND, OR)

I've emailed this guy and he seems kind of hinky. The answer to my list of simple, concise questions was to just snip a sentence fragment from his CL posting.

**SOLD**Selling my beloved 1995 RRC, one of the nicest around.

That's a beautiful Rangie. Say, Fernando, I realize you're trying to buy a Sportsmobile, but what would you say to a 2001 Montero and my first born?

3rd Gen Montero Initial Impressions/Build Thread

I checked the deflection of the OEM load bars with that big spare, two full cans of gas AND the high-lift jack...nothing. Then I climbed up there myself. There was some deflection of the roof...just a bit, but the load bars themselves didn't flex. After 3,000 miles of the above heavy loading...

3rd Gen Montero Initial Impressions/Build Thread

Finally had some time to put up details of mounting the rack. I used a generic gutter mount aluminum rack sourced el cheapo on Craigslist. I removed the steel gutter mounts and upended them. Here's the overall picture: This is looking front to back. Of course, the Montero's OEM load bars are...
