When you weld aluminum, you severely weaken the welded area- unless you post weld heat treat it. And I’m going to doubt that anyone is heat treating something as large as a bumper. So while it saves you weight, it may not save you. And yeah- bolt the winch to the frame.

Definitely change the trans fluid and filter. I wouldn’t flush it. If the trans pan doesn’t have a drain plug, get one that does. I just put one on my Explorer and it was like $20. My Expedition has one. My Expedition, which is fairly similar to your F150, also has a torque converter drain...

There is a guy in my local overlanding club that had one- it was a 4 wheel model, not 6..... I’m not familiar enough with them to know the difference beyond that. If there was a planned trip with a group, he’d leave a day early to get to the meeting spot (he is retired so he had that luxury)...

The LC is not like other Toyotas that were mass produced. If you do find yourself needing repair in some shop (either in your hometown or while on the road), the Toyota dealership may not have the LC parts on the shelf. And then what could be a quick turn around for a repair turns into a long...

sounds like a hell of a 4WHEELING trip. I think I would have gone with a better vehicle for 4wheeling trips though. You should try overlanding with your Suburban. I think it would excel in this realm better than 4wheeling.
