BTW- get your tools dirty. They're too clean.

During the build of the FJ above (the two pics I shared), I did all of the sheetmetal work around the t-case, and it was very similar to what you describe. Room behind the t-case for removal, deleting the bump on the passenger side, etc. The customer had his own sheetmetal guy do the rear floors...

FJ60 LS Swap - From Oil Burner to Gas V8 - Stoffregen Motorsports

Thanks Marshall. Real time seems to be working. I used to wait until the job was near done or even complete before I started a thread, so I could have better control of the story line, but this way, you guys get to see it with all it's potential pitfalls. The side benefit is that it motivates...

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

I have no intentions of making this Jeep a nut and bolt original, so liberties are taken to clean up some of the oddities. There was an un-needed access hole in the cover, probably for when the CJ5's had the pedals mounted to the frame. I decided to cover that up and eliminate an additional...

    CJ5 Resto-Mod Project

My regular paying jobs have been keeping me busy, but when I get a free moment, I spend some time trying to get this Jeep finished. I had a free moment the other day, so I decided to build the floor/trans cover. If you are a vintage Jeep guy, you may well know that the "72-'75 years are unique...

Rust is one of those conundrums for me; I hate finding it, but I like the metal work to replace it. As far as the tunnel goes, the last one I made, I did the work to make the new cutout around the t-case very strong,, with flanges as opposed to straight, cut edges. The tunnel cover itself was...

FJ60 LS Swap - From Oil Burner to Gas V8 - Stoffregen Motorsports

Still working on the cooling system, trying to detail it out, but close to being finished. It's important to keep the system simple in design and easy to work on and also find replacement hoses easily. The upper radiator hose situation was complicated, since the Champion radiator has the inlet...

FJ60 LS Swap - From Oil Burner to Gas V8 - Stoffregen Motorsports

Well the engine is in place for the final time. And it's not that far from running either. A lot of the tedious work has already been done, which is a huge relief and a good motivator to get any project done. First up, build a shield for the Toyota bellhousing. Couldn't use the original one...

FJ60 LS Swap - From Oil Burner to Gas V8 - Stoffregen Motorsports

We run things in a very similar fashion. I don't bill for all of my time. Sometimes it just doesn't seem right to put certain things on an invoice. And...the more and more I hone my craft, the less and less likely I am willing to share my secrets.

Thanks. I just realized I don't have better pics of the shroud. I do, but they're in my phone, and I think my phone has a virus, so I'm not connecting it to my computer until I get it fixed. I do have some updates though. BTW- congrats on the sale of your FJ60. Too bad you didn't get to finish it.

    Factory Jack Replacements

I have a small pile of them in my shop. With a recent trailer tire blowout, and only a high lift on board, I took a few minutes and modified one to bolt to the trailer. Now I'll never be caught with my pants down.

    Interesting

Hopefully Toyota is smarter than that. It would certainly be the end of an era.

    The Mongrel: FJ62 body + FZJ80 chassis + turbo diesel + ???

I'm really beginning to love these 60's. And that Toyota blue is iconic.

You could tack weld some strengthening ribs inside the rear panel. Also, I use my roller for 16ga and it's only rated for 18ga. It works fine.

I don't think it looks bad without any embellishments. It's a clean, simple, old truck. (Not really, but don't tell anyone)

Thanks Brennan. The pump fitting is from PSC, part number SF23, specifically for the modern GM P style pump. The box fitting is from Borgeson and is for a Fox body Mustang steering rack. It's constant homework to dig up these small parts, but once found, they do make life easier.
