If you were to loose the rear taper in the Hab box, you could also loose the front one on the top edge, and then add a roof rack or cab extension as Vegard has with his Mog..., which helps bring the body in to look like it should be there... Either way, you have to be happy with it, as its your...

    U3000 rendering

Hi Ivan. I think it looks good. The body suits the size of vehicle. If it were mine, I'd leave the rear lower corner of the body square, and make the departure angle a little less, because if you ever ground out the rear of that vehicle, you will have to have driven of a 1m ledge, or be going up...

For gas, we are using two 15kg aluminium forklift cylinders. I've chosen these for several reasons. Firstly, being industrial, they are over engineered so pretty safe. Secondly they have a service station fill point that is also safe to use. Lastly, they are removable, giving me a decent...

    Mercedes WIS EPC

The first time I used it it did the same... I think it takes a while to load up initially. I have now saved the link to my truck and it seems to work each time I go to it. How long for.. Who knows. At least we can all see the basic parts list of our trucks. :)

    Mercedes WIS EPC

So, I have found a useful link... I was messaging a mate in the UK and was telling him that I was trying to view Mercedes EPC files. He sent me this link. I think I managed to find what I needed straight away! https://mercedes.7zap.com/en/eu/fg/truck/

With the little computer knowledge I have, I'm sure what I have would work, but the firewall on our work system didn't like the '7zipdownload' required to access it. I wasn't game to go further.

    Mercedes WIS EPC

For my $12 au, it seems I've bought the car version... so not that useful. All I'm after at the moment is part numbers for the track rod ball joint gators and some rubber elbows and rod gators on the rear air brake pots... The local fella tells me they are no longer available! I'll keep searching.

    Mercedes WIS EPC

Hi all. So, how does this work? I have found and purchased a Merc WIS EPC from Ebay, but have been sent links to an installer and some huge files that will take hours to download... I'm just after a file for my truck so I can locate parts etc. Have I got the right thing or something...

Everyone who converted fire trucks! What did you do with all the gear?

The other option worth considering is dropping into your local fire brigade with a list of what you have... If it's anything like over here, they are always after more stuff. The hydraulic cutters, spreaders and ram (if you still have them) would make for very good training aids or backup on a...

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

There's a story as to why... About 20 years ago when I was still living in the UK, I had a Land Rover 101 and large diesel engine in it which had the compressor so it seemed logical to fit an air tank and make use of it... This Land Rover also had a large triple air horn that I'd bought when I...

    1120 AF Build in Norway

We have gone with a Natures Head. Both the Natures Head and Air Head seem to be the best options. I think the Air Head needs less access space. It's worth noting that having a compost toilet in the same room as the shower is not ideal. For that reason we have gone with separate rooms. Our plans...

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

A few hours today had the horn tap fitted and a tap extension with an interior plate made and fitted too. The rest of the afternoon was spent removing the track rod and drag link as though not that old need new gators as they are all cracked or perished. I have also added grease nipples to...

Everyone who converted fire trucks! What did you do with all the gear?

If you were on the same island, I'd own that pump! Get's kinda hot over here in summer. That would be great to have hooked to the 90000 litres of fire water we have here at home. Much more impressive than my small diesel pump and tractor driven backup! I'd keep that light tower and build it into...

What's the reason for this? Much easier if it's all one... Tanks, battery leads, hoses, etc etc can all be linked to the chassis...

I think having a simple 240V circuit is a must too... We will have a couple of sockets inside the kitchen, and supplies to the fridges which are 12/240v, the battery chargers, and also the air con unit. The main reason for out 240v circuit is so the truck can be hooked up when its parked at home...

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

Next up is the chassis to body pivots. These had to be removed, and grease points drilled tapped and fitted. The location of the middle two is not conducive to regular greasing, so I have fitted remote grease lines. We have all this in stock for the Krone Balers we sell. I now have 3 grease...

    Mercedes 1222A.. The beginning!

After a bit of a lull, I have started tackling the jobs that need to be done before painting the chassis. The first is the horn supply and tap... I found a decent length hydraulic hose and metric fittings which has allowed me to get a decent air supply to the top of the cab direct from the...

    1120 AF Build in Norway

Hi Geo.Lander. So, earlier you mentioned chassis prep first... I found that a lot of this depends on layout of the hab box above... I would think you can clean and service the chassis ready, but expect to move some things to get exactly what you want... So far, I have found a box style...
