Currently stock spring? I'm in the process of obtaining (in transit UPS says) ARB OME medium springs for all 4 corners of the '05. It will be riding on KYB Gas-A-Just shocks & 285/75R16 tires. BTW - those spacers in the photos above sure don't look like 50mm. More like 25mm (maybe 30mm).

'95 isn't OBD2 - I'd be surprised if turning it off screws things up too much. '96 and forward - OBD2 ...

agree with MFSR. Look for a leak (all the lines - hard and rubber), then do a brake system bleed to remove air, if still poor - none, master cylinder. I've been around Monteros and their forums for a long time and have never heard of a faulty or leaking Gen 2 ABS unit. Anything is possible...

I'm thinking OME as well for my '05. Same issue. Around 140k on the clock, shocks are shot. Replaced the rear reciently with KYB Gas-A-Just. Thinking same for front and OME springs all around.

Did it clear your codes? Did you also put in new o2 sensors? My '05 is throwing cat efficiency codes again and is due for emissions check in September. I put in new Denso o2 sensors (4x) 2 years ago and the SE light stayed off for ~8 months, so guessing it really is the CATs.
