2003 Suburban 1500 Pop Top Conversion

Thanks Swanson, appreciate it. And all the continuing comments from you guys! Been in a bit of hold period and taking care of some injuries before finishing out the interior. Been taking a few trips in the rig though, still working great, always kind of a surprise to be honest. Few 35mm...

    High Top Suburban

ahhhh sht. i would have had to think twice before starting that project. Good find though! 19" doesnt seem like much but then you add the almost half foot of space you gain without the headliner and cross supports.. 25" is a good deal of room. I would agree with you Martin about the body...

2003 Suburban 1500 Pop Top Conversion

I'm actually certain that had I gone KO2's they would have been quieter than the Duratrac's, and possibly better in snow too, however I really wanted a C load range tire for less weight. E seemed unnecessary and I think thats the only option for KO2 265/75/16 tire, but I could be wrong. Also...

Southwest '17 F150 build. Going faster than your average rig.

Thanks Craig, sure is a little tricky trying to nail down exactly what one needs for their individual vehicle. At this point I think I'm going to just throw their shocks on and see how it differs. Regardless, I talked to three different people from Strutmasters including a supervisor and they...

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

Same actually. Feel like this one has to get me sooner rather than later. Surprised it hasn't got me yet. Great info.

Doesn't surprise me, not sure they really do "kits," mine was kind of an anomaly, and I know they made almost nothing off helping me out with the actuator support welds, cross members, and canvas. When I originally met with Derrek he thought I might be having them do an entire custom job. This...

2003 Suburban 1500 Pop Top Conversion

The idea was for that to be a walk space and hopefully not a gear junk pile.. but we'll see how that actually goes.. Just ordered up some new rear springs: http://www.strutmasters.com/products/2000-2006-chevrolet-suburban-1500-rear-air-suspension-conversion-kit-2wd-and-4wd/ Called strutmaster...

    My 02 Avalanche NFE

Appreciate this review Craig, and Stryder for the idea in the first place. Also have to second this point Stryder, never discredit your gut.

Window insert for 12VDC fan ventilation

Great design, great execution. I assume there's a switch to reverse the fans as well? The whole idea of running the rear ac fan off the aux battery and on an independent switch is really intriguing.

    Los Angeles -Class Attack Sub(urban), Build / Collected Werks topic - '02 k1500 Z71

Glad you got around to a "build" thread, its pretty impressive to see it all in one place, I'd missed the open window mount fan and had forgotten about the clean looking center console... like that window fan idea, I currently just have screens. The list never ends with these mods, I'd love to...

Definitely good enough for a trail rig! Always like the black wheels, looks like you did a nice job that will last.. I did mine about 4 years ago with just one coat of truck bed liner and they are still holding strong, just one little chip I need to fix.

Ya its getting there. As soon as I'm walking again I will be able to finish varnishing and carpet.. And yes, if you're talking about the square cut outs, they will remain exposed, why do you ask?

Only problem Chilli, is I don't have a 2500 ha..or else that would be an easy solution. Regardless of whether I go Z71 springs or H2 springs, I'm wondering if I keep my 1 in rear spacer, whether I'll be able to crank my front bars up enough to level it out, assuming either springs will give me...

Let me know how you like them Jon.. I'm having a tough time with this decision. And yes that's the big reason I take my suburban everywhere. Love sleeping in that thing, even way back before the pop-top. I kind of miss they lower bed at 4 x 8' ha.

Sure was Chilli, fun little trail. Locker would have been nice though... Ray thats right I had forgotten thats what you did, just swapped sides. And ya thats why the H2 springs intrigued me, the progressive rate, and after thinking about it some more I wondered if they would actually ride...

Wow, nabbed a heck of a shot there. What kind of lens were you using? Kind of amazed that the fridge only ate 20% but I guess you're right with the weather as it was. Ive been looking into getting a fridge just can't decide on what model.
