5 speed tranny may be getting long in the tooth, but the gear ratios are pretty decent, especially 1st gear. It's a good tranny, shifts very strong and is very reliable. The VQ40 engine is amazing, it's not a Turd like Toyota engines.

Lol, yeah. I'm assuming you are talking about the Isuzu 3.2. Yeah they go through oil but at least they are stupid reliable. I just used conventional oil and changed the oil every few months. By the time it was a quart low it was time for an oil change anyways, and conventional is dirt cheap.

Are you sure about cutting the frame? I haven't seen a case of anyone ever needing to cut into the frame to fit 35s, or even 37s for that matter. I didn't have any frame clearance issues with 35s myself. The Xterra and Frontier community has a huge number of members running 35s.

The Y62 frame is a true truck frame, it's nearly identical to the 1st Gen Armada which is again nearly identical to the Titan. The frame is 6 7/8" x 4" under the cab, it's fully boxed front to rear. I will try to measure the thickness when it's daylight outside.

The width is a non issue, you will never be in a situation where 3" wider per side (over stock width Xterra) is a detriment. On the other hand, by the nature of 3" longer control arms there are many benefits including increased suspension travel, decreased CV angles, decreased body roll, etc...
