    2013 BMW F700GS and F800GS specs released

That all depends on your definition of 'real'.

    2013 BMW F700GS and F800GS specs released

At least they are creating a distinction between the pre 2008 F650GS (which had a single cylinder) and the later F650GS which had the 798cc parallel twin - but it still seems kind of goofy to call it a "700" when it really has an 800cc engine . . .

    Another "What to get" thread

No. You may not be able to get aftermarket lockers for the Ram diesels either. I don't really keep up with it, so that may have changed - but if he wants lockers, be sure to look into it before dropping $$$ on that shiny new Ram.

Advise on spots to fly fish between Aspen and Silverton

I spent a few weeks in Colorado last summer, and was thoroughly disgusted with the fishing conditions. I grew up fly fishing all over the front range, but haven't fished there in nearly two decades - so I was looking forward to revisiting some of the places I fished as a kid. I didn't have a...

Top 10 Used Overland Vehicles: Do you agree?

Good to know - I'll stop taking those 2+ week trips in Marisa's Patriot. I had no idea that we couldn't do that.

    HJZ79 in the U.S.?

I see two problems. First - the vehicles you describe simply aren't available here. Second - the "truck" market in the US is flooded with people who like the *idea* of a truck - but they don't really want a truck. They want a car that looks like a truck. The number of people who actually...

"EXPEDITION" SHOWER MAT ON THE CHEAP

I did pretty much the same thing with some left overs from some office furniture. Rather than varnish, I used some of the left over Danish Oil from the bookshelves. I usually have 20 - 30' of shock cord laying around, so the only thing I had to buy were the rubber o-rings that I used for...

    trailer tounge length minmal

As short as you want it -- it all depends on the trailer & how it's loaded. You want to keep 10 - 15% of the trailer weight on the tongue, and assuming no other differences, the longer the tongue, the more clearance you have for backing/turning before the trailer and truck meet.

    RockyRoad outfitters?

We bought a 2.5" lift for Marisa's Patriot from them - service was about average, but the quality of the parts was marginal, at best. Obviously that wouldn't apply to parts that they are reselling (ARB, etc) - but the stuff that they make is pretty crude (IE: bolt holes that aren't round...

    Holy granby batman

It was . . . glad it's over. Well sort of - I learned a few things about building cabinets in campers that flex and twist a lot, and we've come across a few things that would be done differently if I did it again, so someday I'll probably do it again.

    Washboard Roads

Martyn is dead on. In my Wrangler, I ran 33psi on the street, 9 - 10psi in the dirt. In my Dodge (w/camper), I run 55 - 65 on the street (loaded), and 35 - 40 in the dirt.

HELP! 05 Rubicon e-lockers wont' disengage

That's my guess (been there, done that). There isn't much clearance in there & unlike ARB lockers, the Rubicon air lockers have very light springs holding the ring in the disengaged position. They are light enough that they are overcome by about 3psi (IIRC) from the air pump. It doesn't take...

    Jacks--don't leave home without them?

I leave mine at home. Not so much for the weight savings - I just don't want them hanging down there waiting to either hit something (rock, tree, etc), or be hit by something (car in a parkinglot, etc). When I bought my camper, the frame was broken from the jack being hit (or hitting)...

    Actual Fridge Power Consumption

Yes. ARB 50qt, approx 1 year old, no transit bag (cover), in my garage (low temp around 70*, high somewhere around 90*), 24 hour cycles without opening the fridge (IE: not adding any warm items that would need to be cooled off, etc), I saw just under 23 amp-hours per day (24 hours), measured...
