XENA Motorcycle Lock/Alarm (XX14 Stainless Steel)

I'm asking $75 firm Brand new in box still - didn't fit my bike's disc size by just a hair, I need to get one with a smaller lock pin. This is a disk lock with integrated alarm system. Prevents bike from rolling as well as chirps when the bike is moved or bumped as a warning that it's on...

    IFS Expo Rig.......Or Not??

i wouldn't SAS an expo rig when there are really nice long-travel options available for IFS. now, i'm of the mindest of the OP in that I want to be ready for anything, and I can't afford 2 vehicles, so i went with the Jeep WJ, i think the last generation of anything common in the US that is...

Kiamichi Trail (K-Trail) Adventure: The good, the bad, and the ????

nice trip report. i learned the hard way about aluminum lift blocks as well. my first 4wd was a dodge dakota and i just wanted a little more room for some more aggressive all-terrains and went with aluminum blocks in the rear... eventually they desentigrated on the trail one day and let the...

semi-custom roof rack for my WJ

paint has dried and so the roof rack went back on today. also put on all the stainless steel mounting bolts after drilling them for the locks (PITA drilling thru bolts it is). only issues: - i need a leather sheath for the axe so no one gets hurt when taking it down - the head of the hi-lift...

semi-custom roof rack for my WJ

yes, i used all the original nutserts. the first thing i did was lay down the bottom "track" and line it up and drill holes for the nutserts. then i bolted it down and measured/cut/welded everything based on those 2 "track" locations. if you're talking about how that bottom "track" looks like...

    Dual Battery System Management Recommendations?

i can appreciate simplicity, you have to just choose between ultimate simplicity versus in-cab convenience and fancy monitoring... different stuff appeals to different people. i guess in order of complexity, it goes: manual boat switch, remote boat switch like the last post, manual/remote boat...

semi-custom roof rack for my WJ

yeah, tube would be ideal, but much harder to work with limited tools. with the main stuff being 1.25 or 1.5 wide, there's absolutely no front-to-back movement or twisting. and with that small brace that goes from the center of the "face" of the mounts down to the bottom rack tube, i'm really...

    High Output Flashlights

i have a Terralux TLE-300m 700 lumen upgraded 4 "D" cell mag lite that i like for mine shafts or searching around camp at night. however, if i need to actually traverse a cave or something where i dont' want to lug the heavy mag light, i usually take a petzl headlamp and an EagleTac P20A2 which...

semi-custom roof rack for my WJ

the hi-lift and axe/shovel carriers finally went over to george's house again today and he was nice enough to weld up my latest contraption! again i cut and bent 95% of everything before i went over so he just had to help me with reality checks, some gusset ideas and his master welding skills...

    Dual Battery System Management Recommendations?

so i spent lots of time reading today about this and even called hellroaring (very nice and helpful on the phone).... here's what i come away with for those that may want lots of info before making a decision: there are 5 types of battery management systems that i count... 1. a manual...

    Dual Battery System Management Recommendations?

i'm still on the fence... but i understand more about the products now... i get that the products brake down into basicly either a big solenoid with some microprocessor controlling it (national luna and IBS kits), or a solid state switch (hellroaring).... what are the pros/cons to each type...

12/7, Phoenix to Payson to Flagstaff, AZ quick run to see the snow

i'm fully aware i could be stuck and stranded, i go at my own risk on little solo adventures like this. i do my best to go prepared, but in the end you never know what might happen. here's some of what i do before embarking on a trip like this, even a last minute one: - tell someone where all...
