    Western Rally

OK, who's going to the Western National Land Rover Rally in the Sierra? Should have trail runs for anybody from stock to rock crawler. Even doing a pre-event run on the Rubicon for the more adventurous. If you were at the first event in Sedona, you know it was a blast. This one should be...

    lr4 on 33" tires

FWIW, I got my spacers from those guys as well several years ago. I don't think they list the 3/4" size any more, but the spacers do fit well and are nicely made. I also see the prices have gone up since I bought!

Post pictures of your Land Rover.

Mounted the new wheel arches today. Do not believe the vendors who claim these give enough clearance for 37" tires on a 5" lift. I'm running 5" springs and 1" body lift and while this would be fine on the road (heck, I didn't have any rubbing with my stock arches on the road) it'll rub heavily...

LR4 Everywhere – a family adventure and build thread

Old post I know, but for future reference (because I know you'll be coming through here so often...) the interesting stuff in Walnut Grove is on the other side of the river. You know, other than my place anyway. :)

    lr4 on 33" tires

Sorry, didn't mean to say you specifically, more 'you' as in whomever might be reading this thinking about doing the mods.

Thoughts on Non-Land Rover axles on a Classic?

That's some nice work there Allen. I'm running stock housings, detroit in the rear, ARB front, Toyota RCVs in the front, Ashcroft HD rear shafts. Was on 35s, just getting the 37s on it now. I did break an older rear GBR shaft (and twisted the other one at the splines) before switching to...

Bringing Sexy Back. AKA 93' LWB RRC

Bummer to hear. But I suppose the poor pallet never stood a chance against the 1000 lbs (or so) of 'road hugging weight' that is that lump.

Do you know a good landrover 109 builder in Westcoast

Cooper is excellent, but can be hard to locate. I haven't seen him around in some time but still drool over his 109 on 40s. #want Tim Scully though I think is your man. He does a lot of Defender/Series truck builds, plus he just moved into a new bigger facility so he'll need the work to fill...

    LR4 multi purpose duty

Excellent idea for switch placement. I'd never considered that! Likely because I never even look up there as I don't use the sunroof. (may actually cover it over with steel for a good antenna mounting point)

    lr4 on 33" tires

I'd like to point out a couple of small points. First, this thread started out as fitting 33" tires. I happen to like the 265/65/18 size on this platform and usually recommend it as my 'go to' size for most people as it fits with minimum or no mods. But it's less than 33", and the KO2 isn't...

NAS LR3 build with an overseas twist

Damn Germans, always beating up on the Brits....

    2006 LR3 Oil Question

I wouldn't say it 'should not be used', so much as it's not necessary. The primary benefit of synthetics is extended change intervals. To truly know how long you can go on any given oil, doing an oil anyalisys (places like Blackstone mentioned above) is the only way to get real data...

    Proud Rhino Bumper LR3 Review

I like that it doesn't stick out the way the ARB does. How is the winch access on it though?

    Another expedition truck on portals...

I'm curious about the portals. I didn't think they were actually selling them...most of the places that had them listed for the Jeep crowd have pulled them from their website. I have a fantasy that I'll put a portal'ed pair of built D44s and 39s on my D1 rock crawler. The wallet doesn't like...

New product from Proud Rhino! The SYA Off Road Extension Kit

Thanks for the notes Ray. I wish the air system was more robust; I mean it's not exactly unproven tech since pretty much every medium/heavy truck you see on the road is running air. But even when stock we know there can be issues and when pushed beyond normal service as so many of us do it can...

    2006 LR3 service manual

Trans fluid is 'fill to spill' with the engine up to temp and running. A little annoying, but that's the only way to check that I know of. Break out those asbestos gloves! (no really, my father had asbestos lined welding gloves when I was young...we used them for handling the hot ash box in...

New product from Proud Rhino! The SYA Off Road Extension Kit

Ray, so you believe based on your truck the HD coils would bring mine up to the OEM off road height? I'm not jumping to coils just yet, but good to know. With my 33" tires I don't usually have to go above that height anyway since I've sort of 'demoted' the LR3 from hard trails to the easier...

    2006 LR3 Oil Question

No problems with that size - good to go.

New product from Proud Rhino! The SYA Off Road Extension Kit

No, clearly that would be the same for any amount of lift regardless of how it was obtained. I meant that if I had coils that could get me to the equivalent of rod-assisted off-road height (I normally only use this on an as-needed basis and do most of my trial running in normal+rods height) I...
