Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Up until now I haven't had any problems getting stuff drawn up. My friend Jim, who used to own Inchworm Gear used to help me with the drawings, but he recently sold Inchworm and moved away. I have always been the roll-up-your-shirtsleeves-and-get-it-done kind...
I just checked my Toyota parts source and the parts have come down in price significantly since I checked last. The previously $300 chain is now $116.
Last time I checked was about 4 years ago.
Sorry for the confusion.
To paraphrase Forrest Gump, life is like a box of auto parts bought off Ebay, you never know what your gonna get.
I would have to know someone who has experience using that set before I would recommend it to a customer.
In defense of my earlier comments, I was explaining that the original...
Hey, I have those same pics!!!
I have to ask, how do you like wheeling in the full size vs the FJ80? I have been a full size truck fan since I was a kid (I have 3 Chevys a Ford and a Dodge right now).
I just met most of them. I have known Harry for quite a while and he invited me to come along. For the record, I love Jeremy's LJ. The fenders, the color. it's just cool.
My Rover is just a little tractor, but it gets the job done. It never ceases to amaze me. I point it at something and it...
Leakdown gauge sets are not cheap, you're right there, but it's not a simple process either. There are some tricks to getting accurate readings during a leakdown test. And then there's interpreting the data that can be confusing.
Leave that one up to an expert.
A couple guys have mentioned it...
Yeah...
I wouldn't use it.
LC Engineering just started selling a good set for about a quarter what the dealer gets, but maybe the mechanic is not familiar with LC. I bet he is familiar with auto parts store brand timing sets, which is why he won't use them.
Boy, the timeout here on ExPo kills me. I don't know exactly what the limit is, but every time I write a long winded response, I have to cut and paste after re-logging in. Frustrating...
OK, details it is.
The Weber conversion we bought from LC Engineering came with a small rectangular K&N air cleaner. We did not want to use that so we also purchased the adapter to go from the DGV to the stock air cleaner. The whole adapter and carburetor assembly is very tall, so I knew right...
Kinda late to the party here and I did not read all replies, so bare with me if I'm repeating what someone already stated.
He isn't far off on one count, but totally off his rocker on the other.
1- A timing chain set from Toyota for the 3rz 2.7L 4cyl engine is quite costly. At about $1600 for...
No updates worth posting. I did get the truck running and driving and have been knocking all the details off the to-do list. Turns out, the front axle I installed may be bent so I'm trying to decide what to do there. It's only got 1 degree of camber difference side to side, but I am a stickler...
Yep, major design flaw.
I am making a new handle out of aluminum that will bolt to the sides and the ends with more mounting locations just so I never have to worry about that again. I just came back from a trip to Barrett Lake trail and I noticed mine is starting to fatigue.
Well as I say, it depends on the terrain you drive regularly. It also depends on how you drive and what other mods you may have. As mentioned above, the extras bolted on over the years and the cargo you carry, not to mention the women that want to ride in (or drive) your bad *** truck will...
I was emailed a screenshot of the post on his FB page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008256251270. It must be pretty deep because I couldn't find it either, but I'm sure if we give him a nudge, he'll give us some more info.
I don't know if it would work for your T100, but Brian Ellinger of Front Range Off Road just announced a long travel IFS kit that uses a Toyota 8" diff. It's supposed to have about 3x the travel of a stock Tacoma and it's completely bolt on. I know you just regeared your truck, but I thought...
