Actual off road capability of composite campers.

We usually pucker up and freak out when we get about half way to the tipping point. Because he's bouncing, he's probably over half way. To clarify, in a static situation the CG needs to tilt past the tire contact point that you'll be pivoting on when you tip over. For instance, say his CG is in...

    I've got 2 pretty good 12v pumps, ~$60 each. If I'm in a hurry I'll use both.

Actual off road capability of composite campers.

It won't be very different if you custom build to similar specs. To reduce COG concerns, keep the heavy stuff low in a custom build. You seem overly worried about COG, but you'd need to be on >40 degree angle for that to happen, or make a silly maneuver, or have the road collapse. Ground...

Does seem like the best option for the ExPo crowd. 2x the power and NA are nice.

XPS...who? Again, who? If that's TC they have a square FG tube bonded inside the panel, and the bolts blindly fasten to a thick steel plate.

Adjustable leaf helper spring experiences? - Hellwig, Autocraft, and similar

Here are some photos from when I was doing articulation testing, to see what I've got now.

Adjustable leaf helper spring experiences? - Hellwig, Autocraft, and similar

Thanks! Do you remember how long the OME leaf was for the Tundra... did it go above the leaf with the clip? Did you measure thickness by any chance? Did you install it yourself? I'm sure a leaf with more arc will provide more lift, but I doubt they will last very long. How long did you use it...

Adjustable leaf helper spring experiences? - Hellwig, Autocraft, and similar

^What was the OME spring made for and what did you use it on? Tundras like mine have a rear spring pack that is essentially flat at stock ride height. Most aftermarket spring packs like OME are made to lift the rear 2-3" on a stock truck that isn't carrying a load, and the springs have more...

Adjustable leaf helper spring experiences? - Hellwig, Autocraft, and similar

Thanks! These are some I'm considering. I've looked at reviews and videos, but long term experiences are rare. Plus my suspension gets fully cycled more often than most. I know that typical universal add-a-leafs tend to sag and break because they are curved more than the original pack. I've...

Adjustable leaf helper spring experiences? - Hellwig, Autocraft, and similar

Long term with rough use... do they tend to sag or break quicker than the other leafs? That's the main thing I'd like to know. Why do I want them? I already have a pack upgrade from Boise Spring (4 leaf per side - overload) that was supposed to provide stock height with +1500 lbs on the rear...

    Isuzu npr 4wd

Everything is chance and overbuilding is no assurance that it won't break... My "subframe" is 106 lbs of aluminum beams, PU isolators, and carbon fiber load spreaders that are glued to the carbon/foam floor. That bolts to the 8 bed mounts. It articulates very well and is holding up great on...

Found XP Camper V1e with 1 ton truck but 700 lbs over GVWR...

Compared to being say 2,000+ lbs over GVWR on a Tacoma? Which is very common. The weight you are adding isn't all going on the front axle; think you'll be under on the front and over on the rear. I'd check the rear axle ratings for this same axle in other configurations, as it may be...

2016 F-250 Rear Springs- Deaver or Alcan?

The spring has to counteract the torque on the axle. I don't see how a small block would have a significant effect.

2016 F-250 Rear Springs- Deaver or Alcan?

^I understand the benefit of many thin leafs and ditching the overload... but I've been trying to imagine what difference the block makes, and... I'm not seeing it. To raise the ride height in the back you can either curve the springs or add a block. If the springs are curved then the axle will...

2016 F-250 Rear Springs- Deaver or Alcan?

^Leaf packs aren't rocket science. They should have no issue plugging your specs into a calculator and figuring it out. When you say "local shop" is this specifically a spring shop where they make leafs? I considered buying (would be almost free) a take-off leaf pack for my truck and cut them...

    Shocks

Just speculating, but I'd guess it's longer than the 4600, which means you'll bottom out the shock more easily. That may not be readily apparent, but could be uncomfortable on bumps and damage the shock.

    Shocks

Back when I was making this decision, it seemed like there were more reports of high-priced shocks leaking. Thought it might have to do with low friction seals, as I encountered this with wheel bearings on bicycles. A worthy goal! If you haven't looked at them KYB Monomax are a shock you should...
