Yeah that's up in the air. Removing it would be easy but it's basically a free cable actuator ready to switch something on or off, just haven't figured out what yet. Transfer Fuel tank, air compressor, hot water valve, all of the above?
Cheers!
I took the van out on a shakedown run this weekend along Big Sur and nothing broke... Crawling up and compression braking down the windy little roads confirmed my love of manual transmissions, all good.
Check out this little fella in the bushes. I heard a squeak from the brush and...
Some more details for those considering the swap, a parts list:
CNC pedal, 3AN Fittings, 6ft 3AN line (This is the variable, can be done many ways.)
SD Slave cyl.
SD Shifter and Boot
SD Manual Tranny Tin Engine Plate (The E40D adapter plate is cast aluminum and thicker.)
SD flywheel (Note...
Thank you, I'll take a beer, best award ever...
Lots of guys on here know more about the axles than me. I opted for the Sterling 10.5 out of an 03. Coincidentally, the speed sensor was the same as my 96 van which used the rear axle for VSS instead of the tailshaft housing.
Yep, that's the...
Cheers everybody, thanks for the kind words!
I've been driving small cars for over a year now and it's a huge change. So trying to be objective here... It feels like a monster truck, and bigger than the original Ute in some ways. Something about shifting the gears gives me a more connected...
9 Months Later, she lives!
Gents,
Finally got some time to get her running, I love it!
I'll fill in the details later but here are some shots after her first wash:
Obligatory Easter lunch:
Glad to be back rolling in the van!
Oh boy, this is the first thing I had to do for my van which mostly sat in Texas for years and the o-rings on the nose of the fuel pump had dried out and started to leak.
Martyn's comment above is a good first check. If it's not the petcock or fuel bowl o-ring then you are likely facing a fuel...
Greetings Gents!
Finally a little progress to report. Unfortunately my momentum ground to a halt with two broken ribs a couple weeks ago. They are slooowly setting and I'm finally able to put in a couple hours/day...
I think I have all of the req'd parts with the exception of the final pedal...
Thank you! That was a great rig. I talked with Chris and he said the new owner still has it and is slowly building it out. I haven't seen him post anything though...
Cheers! The boxes are beautiful aren't they! -All aluminum and fully welded for roll-overs. Can't beat the value there.
Nice...
Cheers! I remember your kick off. Beautiful rig BTW!
This one fits with a little "massaging": http://www.diamondeyeperformance.com/product_info.php?cPath=17_39&products_id=200
Cheers! Feelin' the van love already~
Greetings Gents!
It's time for round 2! Some of you guys might remember round 1, the Ute, which I stupidly sold. I then tried to pull off importing a U1300L and it was an awful experience of broker and customs calamities. Long painful story... The good news is that I'm stoked on building...
I get what you're saying. What I *think* (just guessing right), is that the member you are referring to as the subframe stays, and the members above it flex. Check out the attached pics. The upside-down saddle cupping the top of the subframe does not look welded on in the pics you attached, and...
I don't think those are break-away joints. Look close at the bracket that the flex joints bolt to. It looks like they bolt to a saddle that cups the top of the member that is sistered to your frame.
