New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

Just gotta suck it up, or do a bit of trimming. The next guy along will thank you... maybe... if they notice...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

What is your fullsize setup? When considering the Ranger, the F150 with 2.7 is hard to pass up. Used to have a payload package available too, but I think they've quit that for 2024. Can you describe more how your Ranger was "ruined by all that weight and no fun to drive" relative to your full...

No, and that's a good thing. A change this big will take decades anyway...

    Stock Shock Replacement f250

Extending the bumpstops would probably be a good idea... but maybe you don't care with the lifetime warranty!... ;) With IFS coilovers, replacing the damn things takes me all day...

Curious what the cause might be... I guess they leak? Any chance they are bottoming out?

Four Wheel Camper - A Review

They start at $39k... what is the fully loaded price? One thing I dislike is the big gap between the camper and cab on most trucks. Most people are going to want bigger tires and clearance for wheel travel, so why not design the camper for a taller bed height? There are other things wrong with...

I like that! I noticed a lot of battery capacity, so looked that up. A good chunk is used EV batteries apparently. There will be a lot of these available in the coming years.

Wut?! If there is ever a place where you'd want the portability of liquid fuel, it's where there is zero infrastructure for anything.

Composite camper - aluminum extrusion vs. FRP edges

Ha, I think I have too... unless I forget... which I always do... If you just hand lay the edges, it wouldn't be that much work. You can get some extrusions made and try to sell your excess. Or just use aluminum angle. Did you check with BCT? Still too expensive...

Composite camper - aluminum extrusion vs. FRP edges

I think the conclusion was not much... You can do your own fiberglass edges with hand layup (or hand layup the whole thing), or use aluminum.

I'm not seeing that as an option from them. Do you have a link to where these can be bought?

What makes you say it's overbuilt? It's a bored and stroked 2.7L with a cast aluminum block replacing the compacted-graphite iron block.

"Some of Thacker Pass’s proponents believe that would result in fewer costs and less damage from mining. Anyone who deals with lithium is, on some level, aware of the environmental costs. The recovery process produces pollutants like heavy metals, sucks up water, and emits tons of greenhouse...

    Can we talk coffee brewing?

The most annoying things about pour-overs for me, is that they don't hold enough... so you have to mess with it... and they often don't fit over just anything. If any body wants a simple, large, and cheap pour-over system... get a Bunn 20583.0003 Black Plastic Funnel. It has a center drip...

The number is 20% typically... energy moving the car divided by energy in the fuel. This gives a comparison between overall energy efficiency of a gasoline ICE vs an EV with electricity generated by coal, NG, or hydro. Note that diesel ICEs are a bit more efficient, so will compare more...

Options for windows in overland build

I have a Dometic on the front which I guess is a Seitz? The others two are single pane glass sliders, one on each side. No experience with the fancy windows! I don't want windows that get scratched by branches and thorns, because that happens a lot. A double pane maybe raises R from 1 to 2...
